From 1st April to 30th June, Hilton has been offering Double Points or Double Miles for every qualifying stay at one of their properties worldwide. You can still sign up here.
Note that you can only select one option and that you are stuck with that option for the whole period, so if you are planning a lot of stays where you will have heavy incidental spent (all of which would qualify for Double Points) then Double Miles may not necessarily be the best choice.
Once you have selected Double Miles, you need to make sure that your Hilton HHonors profile is configured with your frequent flier number. You can choose from Points & Variable Miles or Points & Fixed Miles – unless you are expected very heavy incidental spend, Fixed Miles will be the better deal.
You may automatically select BA as your mileage partner. This would be a big mistake. BAEC members earn 500 Avios per stay at Hilton, Conrad and most other Hilton brands, and just 100 at Hampton and Homewood properties. However, BMI Diamond Club members earn 1,000 miles per night with a maximum of 3,000 miles per stay. You even earn this at Hampton and Homewood, 10x the BA earnings rate. And, of course, BMI miles will be transferable 1:1 to Avios from 3rd July.
Under Double Miles, a 3 night Hilton stay would earn 6,000 BMI miles – an excellent return – plus some Hilton HHonors points as well.
Even when the BMI option eventually disappears, heavy Hilton stayers may want to consider keeping away from Avios and taking Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles instead, as the earning rate is double, with 1,000 miles per stay under Fixed Miles.

Did you know that the Virgin Atlantic credit cards are a great way of earning Hilton Honors points? Two Virgin Points can be converted into three Hilton Honors points. The Virgin Atlantic cards are the only Visa or Mastercard products in the UK which can indirectly earn Hilton Honors points. You can apply here.
