‘Triple Your Trip’ is the name of Hilton HHonor‘s third quarter promotion this year, running from 1 July to 30 September. Registration is required via this link.
The rules appear complex, but the essence is simple. Hilton will work out your average spend per night for each stay, and the number of weekday (Monday to Thursday) and weekend nights stayed, and then base the bonus for that stay on these averages. It is NOT based on your actual spend on weekdays versus weekends. The bonus will post in arrears, 6 to 8 weeks after the stay.
The bonus is only applied to base points, ie 10 points per $. If your average spend over a 10 night stay was $100, the bonus would therefore be 1,000 extra points per weekday night and 2,000 extra points per weekend night. You can get credit for up to 2 rooms per stay and you will receive bonus points even if your earnings choice is ‘Points and Miles’ rather than just ‘Points and Points’.
There is a long list of excluded properties which is my main bug-bear with Hilton promotions. The excluded properties are usually 95% in the US, but this time almost all of the London hotels have opted out as well, presumably due to the Olympics.
Overall, this is not an outstanding promotion, but it is worth registering anyway if you think you may have a Hilton stay over the period.

Did you know that the Virgin Atlantic credit cards are a great way of earning Hilton Honors points? Two Virgin Points can be converted into three Hilton Honors points. The Virgin Atlantic cards are the only Visa or Mastercard products in the UK which can indirectly earn Hilton Honors points. You can apply here.
