BAA WorldPoints to become Heathrow-only from January

If you are a member of BAA WorldPoints you should have had this news by email yesterday.

From 1st January, you will only be able to collect WorldPoints at Heathrow, with Southampton, Stansted (about to be sold anyway), Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh leaving the programme.

It is worth noting that you will need to spend any £5 WorldPoints shopping vouchers before 31st December if you want to use them outside Heathrow.  However, they are willing to credit the points back to your account if you post back any unused vouchers, which is good of them.

You can also pre-book car parking (either to earn points or as a reward) up to 31st December for up to a year in advance.

I had a feeling that the writing was on the wall last week.  I received a survey from WorldPoints, of which one of the questions was asking my view on renaming the programme.  They were suggesting ‘Heathrow Points’ as their preferred choice, which gave a decent insight into how they were thinking!

For what its worth, I rejected that and voted for ‘Heathrow Rewards’.  Let’s see what turns up!
