Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Another BAA WorldPoints sign-up bonus launched – get 1,000 points for spending £75

I have found yet another BAA WorldPoints sign-up promotion.

See here (EDIT: link removed as dead).

This one requires a new member to spend £75 in one transaction (not ‘in one day’, which is the usual condition with WorldPoints promos) at Heathrow to earn 1,000 bonus points.

These are worth 1,200 Avios or 1,000 Virgin or Miles & More miles.

It is more generous than the promotion I wrote about here last week, but that only requires a new member to spend £10 to earn 750 points.

If you know you will do a big spend, however, the one above is the way to go.

Do you think that buying some pre-ordered currency from Amex for more than £75 would be enough to trigger it?

    • Raffles says:

No. Because, when they say a £75 purchase, I am 99.99% sure they mean a transaction that triggers 75 WorldPoints. Currency only earns 1 point per £10, so you’d need to change £750.

I think the “or register their card” bit applies to when you pick up a new card in Heathrow and then go online to register it to yourself. I don’t think you can register a card for a second time, so I can’t see how you can claim the bonus on a card that you’ve already got, sorry.

I am going through T5 tomorrow morning, which will be the last time I plan to be at Heathrow this year.

I take it that I have to register, wait for a card to come in the post and then go and do the spend?

if so this is no good to me

    • Raffles says:

No, you can retroclaim. If you join today then you will be fine, just post or scan your receipt.

  • Sam says:

you can also pick up a card at the airport, use it straight away and they register afterwards. That way you won’t have to send a receipt in
