I posted last week that the very, very interesting ’20,000 Starwood Preferred Guest points when you get the SPG Amex’ offer was back.
20,000 SPG points is good for 25,000 Avios, or indeed 25,000 miles in many other programmes. Or even some free hotel nights!
My original post on the offer is here.
Quidco has just increased its cashback on the card from £40 to £45. See here. This means that your net cost, after the £75 fee, is just £30. And, of course, if you cancel before the year is out you get part of your fee back. You may even make a profit on top of your 25,000 miles! The £45 cashback is valid until next Sunday.

Thanks for the heads-up. Got cards on the way for me and the OH. Do you happen to know the time limit on churning these? Wondering whether to hit the spend ASAP and cancel or keep for daily spending.
No idea. I have never actually personally churned an Amex card, believe it or not. Between my wife and myself, I find there are enough sign-up bonuses available for us to get a few new cards each year without repeating ourselves. This 20k promo seems to turn up each November, so you could keep it for a while, cancel and still be in a position to try again next year. It is now 2 years since I originally got mine so I may have another go next year at some point.
IIRC I was told six months when I cancelled my previous SPG card.
Many thanks for the response.
Even better, if you register first for the Quidco Big Bonus promo (and make 4 other Quidco transactions) you’ll get an extra £25 cashback!!
Do you have a link for the ‘Big Bonus’ promo?
I meant to ask the same, but forgot! (Oddly, if you google ‘quidco big bonus’ you get a Head for Points post on the first page, but it is nothing to do with this – just a coincidence where the words were used together!)
T&Cs are here – http://www.quidco.com/bigbonus-terms-conditions/ – however I can’t find a generic sign-up link, mine was in an email from them and it was a personalised click-through.
Hi everyone, sorry if this is a dumb question but will amex give you the sign-up bonus if you already have a BA premium card? The application indicates that no bonus will be awarded if you hold an amex already providing avios points.
That is a mistake on the form, I am certain. Someone has cut and pasted text from an old BA application form. If you go here https://www.americanexpress.com/uk/content/starwood-preferred-guest-credit-card/ and click the Important Information link at the bottom, you get the box where Amex always list the restrictions. No restrictions are there.
How long does quidco usually take to track? I got approved but it has nit tracked yet.
It seems to have not tracked for a few of us – I just entered a missing transaction enquiry once I received the card and it still hadn’t tracked.
