No, I haven’t gone mad.  Don’t worry.

“Lemon Popsicles & Strawberry Milkshakes: Love, Love Me Do” is a ‘Various Artists’ compilation CD (3 CD’s actually).  I have no idea what it is about, and frankly I’m not really bothered!

What I AM bothered about is the fact that a) it only costs £3 and b) Tesco Direct is giving 150 bonus Clubcard points when you pre-order a copy!

The Tesco Direct link is here.

The maths here is compelling enough to order a copy.  Even without a Clubcard to Avios points conversion bonus (which is highly likely at some point in 2013), you are getting 363 Avios for £2.97, so just 0.82p each.  A 50% conversion bonus would take that down to 0.55p each.

Postage is free as well, so you don’t even need to bother doing ‘Click and Collect’.

If you give it to Oxfam, they’ll probably sell it for £5 and (if you’re a 40% taxpayer) you’ll be able to claim £1 tax relief if you sign up for their Gift Aid scheme.

(Which you should … Oxfam has sold £1,000 of our stuff this year.  They get an extra £200 because of the Gift Aid, and we get £200 back via  our tax returns.)

Or order 7x copies for £21 and 1,068 CC points – use voucher TD-HGKH to get £3 off £20 spend (0.75p / Avios not accounting for any conversion bonus)

    • Raffles says:

Good one. I get a strange feeling that this CD could go straight to No 1 in the week of its release!

  • Aoife says:

Thanks Raffles, will purchase and donate the cds 😉

  • mrtibbs1999 says:

Given that it’d only need a few hundred to get in the top 100, I’m sure it will chart, the question is where. If it hits number one I think it will be the writing on the wall for us.

  • Sir Stamford says:

Each Tesco point is worth 2.4 Avios. Based on my maths for each CD – 3 base plus 150 bonus = 153 points x 2.4 = 367 Avios.

    • Neil says:

thanks for explaining – i guess we’re all stashing ready for a 2x conversion bonus on avios then ….

  • Paco says:

More ethical than the fellow on FT who bought lots of chicken nuggets or something and brought them to the dumpster!
