Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

The British Airways ‘luxury seat sale’ starts today

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

British Airways is launching its latest ‘luxury seat sale’ today (Thursday 7th) for just five days – although the fares were quietly added to ba.com yesterday afternoon.

It covers First, Club World and Club Europe, and covers the Easter holiday period.  Club Europe discounts are available for travel until mid May.

There is no list of sale fares anywhere.  However, if you go to the Low Fare Finder on ba.com it will show you the lowest fare available for each destination, which is in effect the sale fare.  The bargains are not the greatest ever seen, although £1,600 to Seoul in Club World is not bad.

The Dubai flights I have on the last of my BMI miles for Easter are showing as £1,200 each in Club World (albeit I would need to fly back overnight which the kids don’t link) – I need to think about whether this is a better deal or not.

Here is the small print:

The Luxury Seat Sale ends midnight 11 February 2013 and includes selected destinations in First, Club World, and Club Europe from London Heathrow, London Gatwick and London City. Limited promotional seats available. Bookings must be made by midnight on 11/02/13. Travel to Europe from London Heathrow and London City is available for selected outbound travel dates between 18 February 2013 and 19 May 2013.

Travel to all other destinations from London Heathrow and London City is available for selected outbound travel dates between 23 March 2013 and 06 April 2013. Travel to all destinations have a maximum stay of 42 days (6 weeks).

All longhaul destinations in Club World and First must be made a minimum of 28 days before the date of outbound departure. Promotional travel is non-refundable and non-transferable. Tickets must be booked, purchased and ticketed, start and finish in the UK.For full terms and conditions visit ba.com/luxury-sale.

Raffles, note I7SALE rates are still available until 12th Feb so for club world bookings I’ve found its far cheaper to fly ex-EU even with this “sale”..

My Mum thinks you are funny.

Head for Points – type it into Google and I think there will be a summary of all the posts – from Airlines, to Car Rental to Hotel Chains – even the Railways got a look in this week, if you use your Amex – though there is some debate whether the on-line suppliers are approved.

The Authors are good though, they book the seats to see if the miles come through, and give Amex Holy Hell, if there’s a bit of foot shuffling, or renegeing on the deal.

Tesco dropped a bollock the other week, and the readers steamed in, almost bankrupting the company with the uptake of the offer, before they could close the loophole.

You’ll enjoy the articles with the lateral thinking of buying Avios mile from Iberia, converting them, and all the rest.

Some happy hours of reading, if you just go back to January – there are 3 posts / blogs a day at the moment – I don’t know how the Sitemasters have time to write it all up

I bought some tickets to Belfast last week, then the Yanks re-scheduled the job – there was nothing left, after the refund % BA deductions, and BA charge for using your BA Amex card – at point of purchase.

BA gets particularly well covered – along with scams via their partners – American, Iberia and Malaysian – I think Qantas have defected to the Star Alliance and Virgin into oblivion, with Sky Team.

We are on tenterhooks now, the pleasant trip to Lyons, with a stock up at the Carrefour, may become a trip to Kharkiv.

I don’t care – meantime next week in St Petersburg, Herr Python, the Venue Manager is determined to get us into an inside Commentary Box.

More news on that one, with a picture of the central heating radiator in the Commentary room to follow – we have run him ragged so far, sending us snaps of the position.
