Superfly – a new flight comparison service that considers the miles you receive

A couple of days ago I flagged up Google Flights, the so-far unexciting new flight pricing search engine that is now available in the UK.

Over in the US, yet another new flight price comparison site has launched – Superfly.

What Superfly does is to let you specify how much you value an airline mile in a particular programme. Let’s say you value an Avios at 1p. When you search for flights, it presents not only the headline price, but also an adjusted price which offsets the value of the Avios you would receive if the flight is on a oneworld member airline.

As we are away at the moment I haven’t had time to try it out yet.

For it to work properly, it would need to be able to identify the exact ticket sub-class (not just Economy or Business) and then cross-reference that against BA’s table of earnings on partner airlines. It would also need to adjust for any status bonus you qualify for.

If anyone wants to give it a try and report back, please do.

    It’s a slick website and I like the concept.
    It currently appears to be for the US market (I could only see prices in dollars).
    I can imagine a more advanced search company buying them and integrating their technology.
    As a stand-alone flight-comparison site it has some way to go. It seems to rely almost exclusively on Expedia for pricing. And it fails to offer several of the low-cost airlines so you’ll still need to use an additional search engine to ensure that you have all price options covered.
    Superfly also provides a dashboard of all your loyalty account balances but you’ve already introduced us to a better site for that – Award Wallet which includes more (Tesco Clubcard, Boots, Shell, Nectar etc.)
