Proof that the TopCashback to Tesco Clubcard conversion process works

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

A few weeks ago I wrote about the exciting new partnership between TopCashback, the cashback shopping site (a Quidco clone) and Tesco Clubcard. You can read my orginal articles here and here.

Basically, TopCashback is now giving members the option of being paid in Tesco Clubcard points. If you earn £10 cashback by shopping at a participating retailer, you can choose to have that money sent over to Tesco instead of being paid to you.

TopCashback even adds on a 5% bonus for free.

£10 cashback therefore becomes 1,050 Clubcard points. That is worth 2,520 Avios points or 2,625 Virgin Flying Club miles. You are effectively paying just 0.39p per Avios! Even better, you could save your Clubcard vouchers for the next Tesco to Avios conversion bonus, and get 30%-50% more Avios.

I have just successfully made my first conversion from TopCashback to Tesco. I sent £20 across last Friday, and I got an email from TopCashback on Tuesday to confirm that it had been done.

They did not, as it happens, show immediately in my Clubcard account, but the 2,100 Clubcard points were there a day later, on Wednesday. That is 5 days from sending them across.

So, the process is clearly working OK and TopCashback and Tesco are being very efficient in sending your cashback across.

If you are not already a member of TopCashback, you can join via this link. I receive a small referral credit, although unfortunately you do not receive anything (!). However, I am very grateful for your support and it helps to underwrite the costs of the site.

I sent £10 over last week and even though I didn’t receive an email conformation the points showed up 3 days later

  • Tom says:

    Great! Have signed up.. 🙂

  • Mr Bridge says:

i have sent 3 redemptions, one was there within hours, the other took 2 weeks, i guess they send them across in batches so it depends when you request it.

    • Mr Bridge says:

My 100 points posted yesterday from the tesco car insurance promo

  • Andy S says:

Been generally working fine. Used it for Graze.com, ticketmaster (Saracens at Twickenham tickets), red spotted hanky (train tickets on east coast) and lovell rugby. Only made 1 actual purchase on graze.com after the free box but have rec’d 2 lots of 106 clubcard points which were on my account in a matter of days. The only issue is still waiting for the credit from Lovell Rugby to show up, it was on last friday lunchtime.

  • tom says:

I am still waiting for my £5 tesco cash back it was about three weeks ago

  • Mike says:

I transferred £52.31 (includes payment bonus of £2.49) for 5231 points, so looks like the £50 limit does not include the bonus

  • Jamie says:

How long do purchases normally take from being confirmed to payable? Looking forward to taking advantage of this!! Great site you have here! Managed to get a club europe to Prague by just doing things I would normally do, following the advice on this site. Not bad for a student, less good for final year coursework.

    • Rob says:

Depends entirely on the merchant. I have referred a few people who have ‘Confirmed’ earnings, but they are moving to ‘Payable’ (and thus triggering my referral bonus) at totally random speeds, presumably driven by who the merchant was.
