4,500 Avios bonus for Lloyds TSB Duo Avios cardholders

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Avios.com has been emailing selected holders of the Lloyds TSB Avios credit cards with a special offer to earn 4,500 bonus Avios.

The promotion is very simple (for once, given Lloyds track record):

Register by 30th June

Spend £200 on the Amex card during June, July and August (this is calendar month, irrespective of your statement start and end dates)

Receive 4,500 bonus Avios

In theory, this offer is targeted.   However, if you go here and log-in, then it will say that you are registered.

This doesn’t mean that you will definitely receive the bonus Avios points, of course.  However, if you have the card and will achieve the £200 of monthly Amex spending anyway then you have nothing to lose.

I wonder if this would stack on top of the 15,000 bonus avios for signing up? I received my cards on Thursday and have started spending to reach the min spend of £500 for first three months. If I register for the bonus might I get it on top of the 15,000 sign up offer? Perhaps if I spend the £200 on top of the £500 (ie £700 a month) it would work!? What do people reckon?

  • What's the Point says:

Thanks Raffles/Simon for letting us know about yet another bonus credit card offer.
I must admit back before I found your website, I was quite happy to earn the the odd credit card sign up bonus now and again. But your daily updates make me feel as though I am missing out on bonuses that I can’t achieve (I just can’t spend the money required on all the cards that are available!!!!)
That said, I wouldn’t want it any other way. Keep up the good work.

    • Hoods says:

I asked Avios and they said if you don’t get an email, even if you sign up you will not get the bonus
      🙁

      • Rob says:

They will always tell you that.

And, in this case, it might be true. But in 50% of cases, it isn’t!

        • Hoods says:

          Thanks Raffles,

I am new to this points game – but in the month or so I have started visiting you site I nearly have accrued an extra 60-70k avios!

          Thanks!

  • uk1 says:

It does look like a landing page only.

  • Michael says:

Why do they target certain people only so often. Is it to encourage them to put (additional) spent again through the card?

    • Roger says:

In my case (I got the snailmail promo from LTSB and the e-mail promo from Avios), I’m sure it’s because I hadn’t been using the card regularly.

At 1 Avios per £, that’s hardly surprinmg compared with the current 1-2 DC miles (= Avios) on my MBNA Diamond Club MC.

  • Kevin says:

Many thanks Raffles and Simon, it mentions the ordinary Duo card, do you think it will work with the Premier Duo?

    • Rob says:

No harm in trying, it is only £200 per month after all

  • roman fliski says:

Please could you tell me if its just the amex card you have to spend £200 per month or can you use both the cards( mastercard) as not everyone takes amex

  • Diane says:

I am new to Avios collecting, but am now trying to maximize my points by doing many of the tips suggested on this forum – BA Amex / Tesco etc. On telling my Dad about this he told me he had a Lloyds Duo Amex card, and had 1000’s of point on it, that he would never use. He said I could have them. However I think that the only we to transfer them is to gift them and this costs money, and unless I am desperate from them , not a sensible way to acquire Avios. Am I correct ?

    Thanks.

Ps – Love this site – I am now becoming a bit of an Avios bore, and am tempted to say ‘ Avios’ instead of goodbye in Tesco these days !!

    • Rob says:

No, he can’t transfer them to you.

However, he can book a flight for you in your name. As Avios lets you book one way flights, it may be possible, for eg, to use his Avios to book a one way somewhere for yourself and use your own to come back.

Alternatively, you could form a family account at avios.com or a household account at ba.com and pool your Avios. Note, though, that if you do this you cannot redeem for anyone not in your family account.

      • Diane says:

Hi, Thanks for replying. I already have a household account, in BAEC that I combined my avios account with, so all my point sit in there. Can I add my Dad into my BAEC household account and then combine his Lloyds Duo with that ?( even although he doesn’t live in same household ). I will be redeeming point s( eventually ) for myself and immediate family .

        • Rob says:

Your Dad needs to open a BAEC account. The email address and date of birth must match those on his avios.com account. The address must match yours.

He can then transfer his Avios from avios.com to BA Exec Club using ‘Combine My Avios’. When this is done, you can add him to your BA Exec Club household account.
