Up to £15 of redspottedhanky train ticket vouchers for everyone with their new game

RedSpottedHanky, the online train booking website, has launched a ‘Fantasy Wimbledon’ game on its website.

At first glance, it doesn’t seem terribly interesting – you create your own team, earn points based on their performance at Wimbledon, and the highest ranking players win an iPad, Kindle, Wii or iPod Shuffle.

However, when you look at the details, it becomes a lot more interesting!  Every point you earn in the competition will be converted to 3p of RedSpottedHanky train travel vouchers, up to a maximum of £15.  And a decent amount of vouchers should be relatively easy to hit, because you can have up to 10 ‘transfers’ during the tournament, which allows you to remove players who get knocked out.

RedSpottedHanky Wimbledon

This is how it works.

Step 1:  Visit the home page for this game and click on ‘Register Now’

Step 2:  Register your details – if you have a RSH account already, make sure you use the same email address

Step 3:  Create a name for your team

Step 4 (optional):  For fun, you can join a mini-league to compare your score against others.  I have created a ‘Head for Points’ mini-league.  If you want to join it, click ‘Join a Mini League’ and enter ‘Head for Points’ as league name and ‘headforpoints’ as password.

Step 5:  Go to ‘My Team Page’ to create your team.  Under Team Options, decide whether to pick your own team or take a lucky dip.  For each of the 7 spots, click on ‘No Player’ and select someone from the list.  Don’t forget to hit ‘Save’ at the end.

Step 6:  You’re done!

Until 24th June, you can tweak your team for free.  After that, you can only make changes – mainly to remove knocked-out players – during three transfer windows.  I will remind people about the windows on Head for Points at the time.

The scoring system earns you between 8 and 20 points (24p-60p) each time one of your seven players wins a game, with a bonus of 4 points (12p) for a straight sets victory.

So, create your team (or, ahem, a number of teams if you have a number of RSH accounts) and get the strawberries and cream ordered!

OK slightly confused about the formula 1 one, I set it up a while ago and just left it, and I now have 3000 points although my rank is below the median. So does everyone who plays effectively get a £15 rail voucher? There are 5000 players.

    • Rob says:

Effectively, yes. RSH messed up badly here, because it is too easy to earn points. Even if you sign up today, you will easily get the 1500 points required to get the max £15 voucher at the end of the season.

Ironically, the Wimbledon one has gone the other way. I haven’t done the maths, but my gut feeling is that getting to £15 could be tricky, even with transfers. It is possible, for instance, that all of the wild cards could be eliminated in round 1.

Have signed up a few teams to your mini league. Also signed upto the F1 offer too. Red spotted hanky do seem to very generous with the rail vouchers. I notice there’s another newspaper one starting in the Sun on 15th June although that involves posting 3 tokens from the paper in. The Tesco RSH £5 E vouchers are stackable and do not need the £15 min spend to activate them. I used 3 last week for a £10.20 ticket and it left me with an E voucher for £4.80.

B*gger, if I’d know that I would have used two of Tesco codes for a small ticket order I did last week!

Good spot. The Sun promo does not seem desperately exciting – £9.50 voucher available but:

      1. You need to buy 3 copies of The Sun (Sat-Fri, so presumably midweek copies cheaper) – £1.20
      2. You need to post off the coupons, so another 50p!

Net profit is therefore only £7.80

You also need to book by the end of August, although you can travel up to 12 weeks after that. I will run a post on it anyway.

Thanks for this, sounds like fun. I’ve used redspottedhanmky a couple of times in the past, didn’t realise they let you boost your points with this sort of thing. I’ll join the mini-league!

Something I missed – because your prize is paid in RSH points, you do not have to redeem them for train travel. You can also redeem them via RSH for vouchers for Pizza Express, Costa, New Look, Boots etc.

Just a quick update for you guys concerning the “£5 discount off £15 rail ticket (including Heathrow Express) with Clubcard Perks” that Raffles posted back on May 15th.

    https://headforpoints.com/2013/05/15/5-discount-off-15-rail-ticket-including-heathrow-express-with-clubcard-perks/

I redeemed the three £5 coupons in one transaction for a £15 train ticket and it went through with no issue. Thanks for the free train ticket Tesco. Thanks Raffles for your great blog.

    • Rob says:

I did this last night as well! Someone mentioned a day or so ago it could be done, and it works. Paid £16 for £31 of tickets.
