The Quarter 3 promotion from Hilton HHonors will run from yesterday, 9th July, to 30th September.

I haven’t written it up before because – no surprise here for regular Hilton HHonors members – their website was broken until last night and it was not possible to register.  Luckily, the website has just kicked into life and you can now register by going here.

The promotion is called ‘Triple Your Trip‘ and follows the familiar pattern of their last few deals.

Once registered, you will receive double Hilton HHonors points per Monday to Thursday night you stay, and triple points for every Friday to Sunday night.  In the Middle East, the weekend is treated as Thursday – Saturday.

There is no limit to the number of bonus points you can earn.

There is a list of non-participating hotels which you can find here.  This is a v-e-r-y long list, so check carefully before booking.  13 UK hotels are excluded, of which 11 are outside London.

Earlier this year Hilton announced a major devaluation of its programme, with many aspirational properties doubling in (points) price.  This promotion doesn’t even begin to make up the loss of value, but if you are staying in a Hilton anyway then you’d be crazy to miss out on the extra points.

How to earn Hilton Honors points and status from UK credit cards

How to earn Hilton Honors points and status from UK credit cards (April 2024)

There are various ways of earning Hilton Honors points from UK credit cards.  Many cards also have generous sign-up bonuses.

Do you know that holders of The Platinum Card from American Express receive FREE Hilton Honors Gold status for as long as they hold the card?  It also comes with Marriott Bonvoy Gold, Radisson Rewards Premium and MeliaRewards Gold status.  We reviewed American Express Platinum in detail here and you can apply here.

Did you know that the Virgin Atlantic credit cards are a great way of earning Hilton Honors points? Two Virgin Points can be converted into three Hilton Honors points. The Virgin Atlantic cards are the only Visa or Mastercard products in the UK which can indirectly earn Hilton Honors points. You can apply here.

You can also earn Hilton Honors points indirectly with:

and for small business owners:

It’s pretty annoying, borderline disgraceful, that these hotels feel they can pull out as they feel fit

    • Rob says:

I feel your pain. 2 years ago I did a night at Hilton Kensington for £69 as a mattress run, as I was 1 night short of triggering a promo bonus. Turned out this was the ONLY UK hotel not taking part!

The list is also totally random. I can sort of understanding expensive London properties where guests run up huge food and drink bills not wanting to fund this promo. But the UK hotels who have pulled out are rubbish provincial ones!

That’s all I’m getting right now when I try to register. I’ve got 5 Hilton stays coming up in September – so I definitely have to try again later,

    • Nick Burch says:

I had a problem registering too, so I sent them an email explaining the error and asking to be registered manually. They’ve since replied appologising for the problem, and telling me that they’ve put the registration through for me. If you don’t want to ring up, I’d suggest you try an email too!

Has anyone had any joy with the ‘four stays for HHonors Gold’ promotions lately – either MVP or Carlson Wagonlit? I’ve tried registering for each in turn but don’t receive any acknowledgement.

I read on Flyertalk that some HHonors Gold members had been bounced back to blue for using a particularly dodgy scheme. Are Hilton getting wise?

    • Mrtibbs1999 says:

      Try the Accenture Scheme

      • Luckyjim says:

No good, but thanks anyway. Probably safer just to earn it legitimately. Would have been nice to have it before a trip to the US next month though.

    Hi Raffles and others
I got both Hhonors card and Spg card. I will be in NY for 2 days early Sep with wife + kid.
Do you think I am better off redeeming 24k SPG points for 2 nights at Westin Grand Central (instead of converting to 29k Avios) or use the free night at Hilton and get the Waldorf Astoria + pay usd 360 for the second night? Thanks

    • Rob says:

W-A is a dump. Beautiful lobby, shocking rooms. Stayed there twice, once in the hotel, once in the Towers!

Conrad New York is the best HH option, where I stayed in Feb (see review). You could see what the ‘cash and points’ rate is for a 2nd night there, converting MR to HH at 1:2 and then compare with an SPG option.
