Tesco Direct has brought back its special deals on pre-ordering forthcoming books. This new promotion offers 200 bonus Clubcard points – worth 480 Avios or 500 Virgin miles – for ordering from a selection of books.

It’s great news for fans of One Direction as their latest tome is included.

You can find the full list here.

There are no clear bargains, but obviously if you want any of the titles anyway then it is a decent deal. You need to add code TDX-PRBK to your basket at check-out to get the bonus points.

Also 1000 bonus clubcard points for ordering Call of Duty: Ghosts (PS3 or Xbox versions). Priced at £40 so a decent return if you can make at least £30 back on ebay. Offer ‘apparently’ ends on 18th Aug…

One copy of each should trigger this promo as well:

    • Rob says:

Ah, that’s back, is it?! Will run it tomorrow.

      • Colin says:

This is also working instore (again) – £5 pre order gives 1005 points.

        • xcalx says:

has anyone got the barcode numbers for COD Ghosts PS3 & XBox

          Cheers

Just in case no boxes are on display

          • Andrew Grant says:

How do you do the transaction with just the barcodes? Will the checkout staff accept me reading a barcode to them?

          • DontLikeFruit says:

No pre-order boxes in my nearest large Tesco. Went back with these barcodes written down (thanks xcalx!) and entered them at a self-scan till by pressing the “item will not scan” button. As I didn’t have anything to physically place in the bagging error, an assistant had to approve each item. I explained that I was trying to pre-order some games, but there were no pre-order boxes on shelf – he was happy with this explanation.

The receipt showed my 2000 bonus points (I bought 1 of each format) so I left a happy customer. Later realised that there was nothing on the receipt to indicate how to collect my pre-ordered games. Maybe this only works properly at a customer service desk?

          • stu says:

The ‘approval needed’ thing is because the game has an age certificate on it. This happened to me even though I had the physical boxes.

The self checkouts don’t seem to do the pre-order slips (although you still get your clubcard points as normal). Ask a member of staff and they will run it through again as a cash transaction at the CS desk.

        • NJ says:

I love this site! Just bought 1 PS3 1Xbox pre-order for £10. 2010 clubcard points (though there was no mention on the shelf of the bonus points).

Anyone able to confirm that they won’t remove the points if you don’t actually buy the game?

          • Rob says:

            No, they won’t

Do you know, I have never, ever seen these instore!

          • NJ says:

            Excellent, thanx.

It wasn’t with the rest of the games, I was about to give up but then spotted it on the end of one of the aisles nearby – as I said no mention of bonus points, just turned up on the receipt.

      • Colin says:

Just did a dummy order online at Tesco Direct and still working at 1000 points bonus. Over on PTS there was mention of a temporary glitch.

  • kipto1998 says:

DAM !!. I BOUGHT FOUR EARLIER USING MY DEBIT CARD. I HAVE A BA AMEX CARD. DO YOU RECKON THAT I COULD RETURN THE “RECEIPTS” CANCEL MY ORDER AND THEN BUY THEM AGAIN USING MY AMEX CARD ?

    • Sir Stamford says:

Presumably you have the BA Premium Plus card which earns 1.5 Avios per £1?

Did you preorder instore for £5 each or purchased online for £40 (less any discounts) each? If you do cancel the order, the CC points is likely to be removed although you should earn them back by placing a new order.

I personally won’t bother if you only paid £5 each since the Avios you have foregone isn’t exactly great. Different conclusion if it is £40 each.

      Sir Stamford

    • Rob says:

It’s really not worth it, given the small £ sum, in my view!
