Raffles, I hope you don’t mind me using this empty post as an opportunity to inform you about something, and also to hopefully request something… first off, the request (and I had posted this elsewhere but it’s gone unanswered):

Re: my usage of my CX card on a BA flight (for lounge status), then switching back to my BAEC number.

Is it as blanket as being “as long as the CX status is on the boarding card, you’re fine”

So, MAN -> SFO, with connections at LHR, MIA and ORD (for example), would mean I WOULDN’T have to:
Check in at MAN with CX, enter lounge and change to BAEC,
Then get to LHR, change back to CX, enter lounge and change to BAEC,
Then get to MIA, change back to CX, enter lounge and change to BAEC,
Then get to ORD, change back to CX, enter lounge and change to BAEC.

and instead I can just checkin at MAN with CX, then change to BAEC immediately…?

Is that correct? 🙂 just want to make sure (and minimise faff!) – never been sure as to whether they check what’s written on the boarding card, or what comes up when they scan my ticket.

Technically it doesn’t matter what is on the boarding card as long as you have the card. In reality some lounge staff are too stupid to realise this. Unfortunately I had a huge fight in Manchester once and, as only one person works the desk, there was no-one else there to help me!

I assume this is a cash ticket otherwise there is no point in doing this!

My gut feeling is that only Manchester may be a bother …

Thanks Raffles – yes, it’s a cash ticket

I recall reading that if they are a bit picky, and the only way to get in is for them change it then I can just jump on Finnair (or a.n.other website? Qatar was it?), and change it back afterwards, and presumably as long its changed before that particular flight leg, I will still get the Avios

[fortunately the above was just an example – we’ll be flying out of CPH -> LHR and then onwards to the USA]

    2nd thing:
I know this has been covered before, but last time I was fairly certain it wasn’t as staggered as this for different earning opportunities, so just in case I thought I’d mention it.
