Get 15% off High Street gift vouchers with IHG Rewards Club

OK, OK … please don’t start throwing rotten vegetables at me already.  After all, redeeming your miles and points for merchandise is generally seen as a very poor use of them.

However, in this case, it is not totally terrible.  It certainly isn’t the greatest use of your IHG Rewards Club points, of course.  However, if you have more IHG points than you can sensibly use then it might be worth a look.

Via this link, you can order gift vouchers for Argos, Currys, Burtons, B&Q, American Golf, Halfords, John Lewis / Waitrose, M&S, PC World, Starbucks and Top Shop at a 15% discount.

This means that it requires 12,750 IHG Rewards Club points for a £25 voucher.  (There are other brands, such as Evans Cycles, which are also available but not reduced.  They still cost 15,000 points for £25.)

Look at it this way.  50,000 points will get you c £100 of vouchers or one night at an InterContinental hotel.  Yes, that hotel night will usually cost more than £100.  The gap isn’t unbelievably huge, though.

Let’s be clear – I won’t be redeeming.  However, if things are a little tight and you currently value a Marks & Spencer gift voucher higher than a free luxury hotel night at some point down the line, it may be something to consider.
