Amex Eurostar special offer – Standard Premier for £159

American Express has launched a Eurostar promotion covering the quiet post-Christmas period.

Recent sales have focussed only on Standard tickets, albeit for as little as £54 return, so it is good to see something for Standard Premier as well.

Standard Premier is a halfway house between Standard and Business Premier:

you get the standard business class seat for far less money

you do NOT get access to the business lounge (unless you have an Amex Platinum card which lets you in anyway)

you get a reduced level of catering, not unlike what you would get on BA Club Europe!

This is the Amex deal:

Standard Premier tickets from St Pancras, Ebbsfleet or Ashford to Paris, Lille or Brussels

Fixed price of £159 return

1,200 tickets available

You must book before 12 December

You must travel between 6 January and 12 February (excluding 31 January to 2 February for Paris)

Payment must be made with an Amex card

The link for booking is here.  Remember that you can use an American Express Platinum charge card to get lounge access when travelling on Eurostar in both London and Paris.

How to get Club Eurostar points and lounge access from UK credit cards

How to get Club Eurostar points and lounge access from UK credit cards (April 2024)

Club Eurostar does not have a UK credit card.  However, you can earn Club Eurostar points by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards

Cards earning Membership Rewards points include:

Membership Rewards points convert at 15:1 into Club Eurostar points.  The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, so you will get the equivalent of 1 Club Eurostar point for every £15 you spend.

American Express Platinum comes with a great Eurostar benefit – Eurostar lounge access!

You can enter any Eurostar lounge, irrespective of your ticket type, simply by showing The Platinum Card at the desk.  No guests are allowed but you can get entry for your partner by issuing them with a free supplementary Amex Platinum card on your account.

Another way to get bargain Standard Premier tickets is if you are purchasing through tickets to Germany on DB website.

I got a ticket to Freiberg for €109 which also included first class on DB ICE trains.

How do you do this? I get an error message when I fill in London St Pancrass – Cologne. It seems to recognize the station names, so it is not that.
