Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Amex’s Amazon discount code is now ‘£5 off £20’ and still working

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

A quick post to say that the Amazon promotional code that I highlighted recently is, amazingly, still working.

This could be, of course, because their partner American Express seems to have forgotten to tell anyone about it!

Even more amazingly, in a desperate attempt to use up all of the 12,000 x £5 discount codes, Amazon has now halved the qualifying spend.

You now only need to spend £20 on Amazon to receive a £5 discount. The only conditions are that you pay with an American Express card and that your purchases are bought from Amazon and not a 3rd party seller who sells via Amazon. The code can only be used once per Amazon account.

The Amazon discount code you need is AMEX5OFF. You can find full details of the offer here.

This link includes our affiliate tracking code, so please click through it if using the discount.

  • Hando says:

Is there any way of applying this to MP3 purchases? I can’t see a way myself.

    • Andrew says:

Strange – I tried it last week and couldn’t get it to work. Will try again later.

Ps – what a great part of the world, one of my favourite!

  • Andy says:

Only thing is we’re having an amazon free Christmas as Amazon is only so cheap because, in our view, they don’t pay a decent rate of tax and exploit their workers. So we’re trying to support the high street at the very least. That said they are probably losing money on this offer so go ahead and use it!

    • callum says:

If you think the way Amazon treats it’s staff is exploitation, you’d want to also avoid virtually every single chain on the High Street as well.

    • Stripy says:

If you’re unhappy with the rate of tax they pay you may want to take that up with those who made the rules. I for one wouldn’t voluntarily pay more tax than the law says I have to so I’m not sure why Amazon should.

Bac on topic – just used the code (10:05pm UK) and all seems fine.

    • richie says:

      jesus… theres always one

  • lap1 says:

If you are having trouble adding the code i.e. it says not valid, log on to the live chat and an operator will add it manually. Had to do this on both of my orders through two different accounts.

    • Rob says:

When I ordered last week, I got a ‘not valid’ message but, when I scrolled back up the screen, the £5 had come off.

  • Will says:

Is the £20 including postage costs?

    • Rob says:

No, although anything priced at £20 should be free delivery anyway.

If it shows a postage charge then you are probably buying from a 3rd party seller which won’t trigger the discount.

  • Danny says:

Thanks Raffles and went via your link.
My order went through fine the second time as all items must be sold directly from Amazon and not a 3rd party seller.

  • guesswho2000 says:

Thanks Raffles, just bought a load of xmas presents from Amazon, so a cheeky fiver off didn’t go amiss!

  • Andy says:

Code is still working as of 4pm GMT on Sunday Dec. 8th, thanks Raffles!

  • Startupflyer says:

Still working at 11PM GMT Sunday 8th, thanks Raffles.
