Interesting Avios-earning long-haul deals in the Finnair sale

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Finnair is a British Airways partner, courtesy of its membership of the oneworld airline alliance.  This means that you will earn Avios and British Airways tier points on Finnair flights.

The new Finnair long-haul sale is therefore worth a look.

You can see full details here.

Some of the Business Class deals look very attractive.  Delhi is just £1,299 return, Bangkok is £1,499 and there are a few Chinese destinations from £1,299.

Economy tickets start from £449 to Chongqing.

You need to book by January 17th.  You can depart from either Manchester or London to Helsinki and then onwards.

Blackout dates are:

Bangkok, 20 April–6 July 2014;
Beijing, 2 January–6 April 2014 and 23 April–17 June 2014;
Chongqing, 28 December 2013–29 June 2014;
Delhi, 12 January–29 June 2014;
Hanoi, 18 August–22 September 2014;
Hong Kong, 21 April–15 June 2014;
Osaka and Tokyo, 28 December 2013–14 March 2014;
Seoul, 6–19 January 2014 and 10 February–31 May 2014;
Shanghai, 14 January–17 June 2014;
Singapore, 24 February–1 June 2014;
Xi’an, 30 March–30 June 2014.

You need to stay a Saturday night to get these fares.

Note that, due to weird Finnair IT, you cannot put in a British Airways Executive Club number at the time of booking – it needs to be added later.

  • Tony says:

    When is the last date for travel on these fares?

  • courtster says:

    Shame SYD isn’t in the sale – last year that was a killer price. I even managed to add a stopover for 3 days for the Singapore GP for no extra.

  • Tony says:

    Note also that the offer is running from Switzerland with the lead in fares of £1011 (CHF1499) to some of the Chinese destinations.

    • Rob says:

      Good spot. It you had time to kill then a Reward Flight Saver to Zurich would be a decent deal.

    • Henk Ombelet says:

      Although the Zurich to Helsinki leg doesn’t earn the double tier points. Heathrow to Helsinki in business class is 80TPs

  • darrenf says:

    Did you mean travel dates, not blackout dates?

  • Londonbus says:

    For my next long-haul Asian trip (open jaw: LHR-PEK/BKK-LHR) I’ve had to downgrade to WhY from WTP with BA. Building works on the house have cleaned me out.

    £600 in the sale; WTP is just under a grand and Club is £2k. But only £1,300 from AMS. AY is coming up as £1285 from ZRH.

    Must… control…. credit card…
