Club Carlson – the Radisson, Park Inn and Park Plaza group – has launched a promotion which is running until April 13th.

Slightly cheekily, they are advertising it as “Stay 3 Nights, Get a Free Night”.

However, that is not technically true.  What they are actually offering you is 38,000 bonus Club Carlson points for completing three nights during the period.

This could be better or worse than a free night.  Should you want to visit the Park Inn in Rotherham, for example, 38,000 points will get you four free nights!

If you want to stay at The May Fair in London, their poshest property in the UK, it will cost you 50,000 points per night.  (To be fair, with the base points from your three nights, plus the 1,000 points online booking bonus, you would have earned close to 50,000 points in total from your three nights anyway.)

In general, I value Club Carlson points at £5 per 1,000.  This means that you are effectively getting a £190 bonus for completing three nights.  At a super-cheap property, this might (but I stress might) make a mattress run over a cheap weekend worthwhile.

You can register for the promotion via this page.

Compared to the other hotel promotions currently being run by the big chains (see my list here), this is probably the most generous.  If you can arrange your business travel to take in Radisson, Park Plaza or Park Inn properties this Spring, I think you will find it worthwhile.

How to earn Radisson Rewards points and status from UK credit cards

How to earn Radisson Rewards points and status from UK credit cards (April 2024)

Radisson Rewards does not have a dedicated UK credit card. However, you can earn Radisson Rewards points by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards.

These cards earn Membership Rewards points:

Membership Rewards points convert at 1:3 into Radisson Rewards points which is a very attractive rate.  The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 3 Radisson Rewards points.

Even better, holders of The Platinum Card receive free Radisson Rewards Premium status for as long as they hold the card.  It also comes with Hilton Honors Gold, Marriott Bonvoy Gold and MeliaRewards Gold status.  We reviewed American Express Platinum in detail here.
