Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Small Luxury Hotels of the World becomes an Avios partner

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

The independent consortium of boutique luxury properties, Small Luxury Hotels of the World, has added British Airways as a partner.

You will now earn a flat rate of 500 Avios points when staying at any SLH property.

SLH

Your booking must be made via the SLH website, at a qualifying rate.  You must be a member of their ‘The Club’ loyalty scheme, and your BAEC membership number must be in your ‘The Club’ profile.  You will not receive your Avios if you present your membership card to the hotel at check-in.

As an introductory offer, you will receive double points – 1,000 Avios – for every stay you book before 28th February.  This can be for stays at any point during 2014.  Only some hotels are taking part in this promotion, click here for the list.

Full details of the Avios offer can be found here.

If you are an American Express Platinum cardholder remember that you can join The Club at the ‘Loved’ level.  This gets you free breakfast for two people and (subject to availability) an upgrade and 4pm late check-out.  The sign-up page is here.  There are also ‘3 for 2’ deals available at some properties for Platinum cardholders – that link has more details.

The page is telling me the double avios offer is for bookings made before 28th February, not 31st January.

Raffles, I noticed that today’s emails were sent at 6 – 6:30 – 7 am. Is that the new “timetable”? With regard to a recent reader’s suggestion?

Raffles do we need to do anything to “upgrade” to this level. I am an existing SLH member but cannot see how the platinum amex upgrade will work ?

    Thank you

    • Rob says:

Hmmmm … not sure if you can upgrade or not. You could open a new account at Loved level (via the link in my post) and then ring SLH to merge them.

In case it helps anybody (and in reply to my own earlier question) I emailed SLH and they were happy to upgrade my account to reflect my platinum amex

    Hi,
I’m going to the SLH TwinPalms in Phuket for my 10 year anniversary with my partner. We are staying in a basic room, do you have any advice on how I can get an upgrade? shall I email ahead? Any advice is much appreciated.

    • Rob says:

Did you book via the SLH website? Even if you get yourself upgraded to ‘Loved’ level, benefits only apply if booked via SLH.

      • Alan says:

Ah so is it better to upgrade your status with the Plat and then book direct with SLH rather than booking the SLH stay via Amex and getting the usual Plat benefits? I’ve certainly come across one occasion where the Amex rates were higher than the SLH rates and this would have been a good plan!

        • Rob says:

Not necessarily, depends on the property. My comment was in response to someone who didn’t mention having a Plat.
