Four day British Airways flash sale NOW ON – in all classes

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

British Airways has launched a four day flash sale.  It started yesterday, and will run until midnight on Tuesday.

In theory, the sale is only for World Traveller and World Traveller Plus.  However, a lot of routes are also reduced in Club World as well.

These sale fares are also combinable with the 20% Shell discount promotion on applicable routes!  Note, though, that the 20% Shell discount expires at midnight on Monday – 24 hours earlier.

British Airways 777 300ER

Here are some headline prices in World Traveller, World Traveller Plus and Club World via the BA Low Fare Finder:

New York – £424 / £888 / £1693

San Francisco – £564 / £1141  / £2593

Hong Kong – £594 / £972 / Not in Club World sale

It is also worth flagging £2,109 in Club World to the Maldives (Male) which looks available for most of the year.

In general, the cheapest World Traveller prices are coming up for October, November and December.

The best way to see the prices available is to use the Low Fare Finder tool on ba.com which shows you the cheapest price currently available for each month.  To be honest, none of these prices are life changing – business has picked up too much for that – but you should get a better deal than you would have last week (or next week!).

Here is the list of routes taking part in the World Traveller and World Traveller Plus sale:

USA – Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Seattle, San Francisco, Montreal, Orlando, Tampa, Toronto, Vancouver

Other – Cairo, Cape Town, Entebbe, Freetown, Luanda, Monrovia, Johannesburg, Nairobi, Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Muscat, Riyadh, Moscow, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok and Sydney

If you are travelling to Nairobi, Hong Kong, Seoul, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, Seattle, Vancouver, Dallas Fort Worth, Singapore, Chengdu, Beijing, Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Muscat, you will receive an extra 20% discount on World Traveller and World Traveller Plus seats using code ShellMARZH.  To get this extra 20% off, you need to book by midnight on Monday (not Tuesday) and travel between May 1st and the end of June.  You can find more details of the Shell promotion here.

Here is the small print for the main sale, which applies to the World Traveller and World Traveller Plus fares:

Book by 23.59 GMT on 25 March

Travel between 22 March and 12 December 2014

Some routes, not all, require a Saturday night stay

Prices for Friday, Saturday and Sunday departures to US and Canada may be higher

It is not clear if the discounted Club World tickets are subject to the same rules, as this seems to be an unofficial sale.  Whilst I quoted that £2,109 fare to the Maldives, for example, you will see that Male is not on the World Traveller sale list.

Tickets can be booked via the normal ba.com home page.

  • Andrew (@andrewseftel) says:

Nb though that the shell code is only valid for 1st May-30 June travel.

  • Matt says:

I would be disrespecting my Canadian wife if I didn’t express my mild outrage at Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver being listed as cities in the USA…. 🙂

  • Alba says:

If you’re looking to travel in August, September or October to San Fransisco, you may want to look into an ex-Oslo flight – they’re currently priced around £330.

  • mrtibbs1999 says:

Can you use the Shell code with a UUA booking? I ask because DXB is only £630 in WT+ and if it could be upgraded to club with 20% off it would be the deal of the year for me.

    • Rob says:

Should be ok, may need to upgrade after booking and not during though. Assuming upgrade seats are showing you can book, try to upgrade and if it fails cancel under the 24 hour cooling off period.

      • Mrtibbs1999 says:

Does uua re price the YQ and Tax?

        • Rob says:

Depends on a) which classes you are moving between and b) whether taxes have risen since you bought the original ticket.

World Traveller to WT Plus – more APD, more fuel surcharge
WT Plus to Club World – no extra APD, more fuel surcharge
Club World to First – no extra APD, no extra fuel surcharge

          • mrtibbs1999 says:

Thanks Raffles. I tried it and the increase in YQ made it a little more than I wanted to pay. Almost an extra £500. I suspect they manage to take the discount back somehow. 🙁

          • s8yad says:

            Mr Tibbs,

A WT+ return LHR – DXB prices at £525.32 using the Shell Discount.

The total taxes and surcharges come to £424.65, the fare element being

If you try to UuA the outbound, it asks for a further £43.10 in taxes plus 10k Avios. (no Club availability on the inbound on the dates I tried)

            Surely a bargain?

  • Jeremy I says:

Plenty of OSL-SFO availability in May in the region of £320.

    • Stephan says:

Wow, how did you pick that one out? Flights to New York from Oslo are more expensive than that.

    • Jason says:

I just booked DUB – YVR then SFO – DUB for £2,500 in F. Same flight from LHR was £4,400. For some reason there was very little difference between J and F pricing from DUB. I plan to not catch the last LHR – DUB segment on the way back.
