Earn Nectar points with train tickets booked via Great Western, First TPE, First CC and ScotRail

  First Capital Connect is also participating and also offering the 100 points for linking accounts. I wonder if my annual season ticket will be eligible for nectar points – finally some kind of ‘discount/rebate’ (other than credit card Avios earn) on a hefty spend?

  I know about a 10% off for advance tickets. I could not find it for others ticket types. Can you explain a bit more about the 10% for booking directly with FGW ?

    It is only advance tickets (if indeed FGW still do it). East Coast and Cross Country have the same deal.

      Usually advance tickets are specific to train companies and usually I booked it directly from their site.

      Recently, I spotted a 10% off for any train tickets bought from East Midlands site on an old really dodgy famous cash back ( rebate) site. I had to do a paid sign up for it to get 10% off for a long haul Emirates flight. It is good if you travel long-haul flights and purchase from argos alot.

        Advance tickets are always specific to a certain company, but they are always available from any site. Sometimes you’ll get a discount on the operators site like those mentioned above but they all sell them for the same basic price.

  Note these are only for transactions with that train company, although TPE offers 1% on other TOC sales. Throw in Nectar points and a lack of fees and TPE is not a bad option.

  I’ve signed up an linked all 5 First franchises – hopefully for 100 points each. Don’t forget Hull Trains!
  The quote for season tickets, for Hull Trains at least: “And, if you’re a season ticket holder you’ll get a whopping 2,500 points for an annual ticket, or 200 points for a monthly ticket.”

  RedSpottedHanky have a Price Promise which can offset that. It’s a bit of a faff, but after booking with them you send in a screenshot of another company’s site showing a cheaper price (eg FGW for one of their own AP fares), along with a bunch of other info, and RSH will then give you loyalty points to the value of the difference. They won’t beat it, but they will match it, via the loyalty points. Takes a few days to come through.

  It appears that they are all now offering 200 points each for linking your Nectar card. I had signed up for two of them and received 100 points each. Signed up now to the rest, so should receive 200 points each for those now.

      Well – good while it lasted. Via MSE:
      Nectar has informed us there has been a change in the T&Cs and now you will only get 200 bonus points on your first First Group registration. If you register for all five websites now, you’ll only get 200 points, not 1,000.

      My points have posted for the first 2 registrations (100 each), but still waiting for the remaining 3 (200 each) to post – let’s see if they honour that!
