Last chance to join our redspottedhanky World Cup league

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

A quick heads up that 8pm tonight (Thursday) is your last chance to submit your team for the redspottedhanky ‘Fantasy Football Cup’ if you want to be in with a chance of earning maximum points.

As a reminder, the game requires you to create your own fantasy football team, earn points based on their performance at the World Cup and the highest ranking players win an iPad or Kindle.

Fantasy Football

Every point you earn in the competition will be converted to 3p of redspottedhanky train travel vouchers, up to a maximum of £15.

A decent amount of vouchers should be relatively easy to hit because you can have 37 ‘transfers’ during the tournament which allows you to remove players whose teams get knocked out.

This is how it works.

Step 1: Visit the home page for this game and click on ‘Register Now’

Step 2: Register your details – if you have a RSH account already, make sure you use the same email address

Step 3: Create a name for your team

Step 4 (optional): For fun, you can join a mini-league to compare your score against others. I have created a ‘Head for Points’ mini-league. If you want to join it, click ‘Join a Mini League’ and enter ‘Head for Points’ as league name and ‘headforpoints’ as password.  Your real name will not be visible to other league members, only your team name.

Step 5: Go to ‘My Team Page’ to create your team. You need to allocate your notional budget of 100 points across 11 players. For each of the 11 spots, click on ‘Select Player’ and select someone from the list. (If you know nothing about football or feel lazy, you can also let the computer pick a random team for you.)

Step 6: Click on ‘Captain:’ to pick your team captain – this person earns double points! Don’t forget to hit ‘Save’ at the end.

Step 7: You’re done!

You can only make team changes – mainly to remove knocked-out players – during six specific transfer windows. 37 transfers are allowed in total over the entire tournament.

It literally takes under 3 minutes to create a team if you let the software pick a random team for you. Even if you can’t be bothered to do transfers as the tournament goes on, it is easy money to set up a team now and leave it.

When/how are RSH vouchers paid out? I joined the Fantasy Grand Prix, but I’ve never received any vouchers for my points…

    • Ryan says:

I’d check again, Paul. I recieved my points last week. Somewhere between 300 and 400, based on a completely random team. I have seen reports of others getting points as well.

Make sure you’re looking at the loyalty section of the site as I don’t believe that points show up on the main section, only after you’ve converted to vouchers. AwardWallet can do all the hard work for you though.

      • Rob says:

Exactly. They will NOT show as an evoucher. They will be there as loyalty points and you need to convert them to an evoucher (takes 24 hours) before you can book a train ticket with them.

      • Paul says:

Ah, I clearly didn’t realise how it works. Thanks for your help guys. Just checked and there is 193 points (also a random team selection).

I’m struggling to see a ‘save’ button – my captain seems to remain now though – anyone any ideas? I’ve joined the HfP mini league though.

  • Enda says:

Didn’t seem to have to click “Save” myself and on logging off and back in the team is still there so I presume it worked??

    • ts77 says:

Thanks Edna – mine was the same, Captain has remain so I assume it’s worked.

The red spotted hanky site is awful. This fantasy game is pretty bad too. Very clunky. Worth trying to get some vouchers, but did this with Premier League fantasy last year and couldn’t find any loyalty points that I was awarded. Very poor site.

    • Rob says:

The points go into an account with the same email address as you used for the fantasy game – if this doesn’t match your usual RSH account then they will have created a new one.

I’ve never had a problem getting the points – they are a bit slow (the football ones only hit last week and the season ended ages ago) but they’ve always arrived.

I’m probably getting £200 per year off RSH via Grand Prix, Football, World Cup / Wimbledon plus 3-4 voucher promos, across 2 accounts. Can’t knock that.

Just saved £7 Fantasy on my trip to collect new car 😉

      No complaints here.

  • Jumble Tales says:

I’ve applied for my team ( Fort Vale ) to join the Head for Points league early this morning. “The owner of the league is aware of your interest….”

  • Jq says:

Err, if it’s relatively easy to hit £15 then surely it’s not the last chance to get the max? Well it doesn’t really matter.

  • Tyaslevesley says:

Just applied to join the league – hope I’m in time!

    • Rob says:

Yes, no problem. You can join the league at any point as long as your team is already entered. Well over 200 teams now!

  • pazza2000 says:

Towards the end of the year Raffles, you should do a reminder post advising that any unspent loyalty points earned throughout the year will expire; I lost out on a few this way.
