British Airways has announced a new 5-flights-per-day service to Dublin from London City Airport.  Flights will start on October 26th – the same day that the Dublin service from Heathrow moves to Terminal 5.

The airline is also taking advantage of the introduction of three new aircraft to add two extra services to Glasgow and an extra one flight to Edinburgh.

The biggest casualties of this shake up at City are Aberdeen and Stockholm where the services have been scrapped entirely.  There are also seasonal reductions for the Winter period on some other routes.

Flights are now available for booking, both for cash and Avios, over at ba.com.

A belfast gatwick service would be good for connections

  • Cheshire Pete says:

A Manchester service to Gatwick would also be good to save the 5 hour transfer connecting into their Hub plus the £50 each way transfer costs.

    • Richie says:

Obviously man-lgw routes were not viable. I doubt they would stop a route if it was bringing in the cash.

    • Cheshire Pete says:

      Not really.

  • andy stock says:

MAN to LGW was scraped last year. It was a shame as it was useful when there is engineering work on the trains.

  • Carl says:

Hooray, no more Cityjet and their stinky old Avro’s for me.

  • andy stock says:

Already planing a trip to Dublin after 28th October on an avios redemption, fly out in CE from LHR T5 and return to LCY in ET on the e170 /e190.

  • squills says:

    Exeter to Exeter?

Not sure that makes commercial sense 😉

  • Rich. S says:

Thoroughly peeved that the LCY – ABZ route is going……
Perhaps little red are doing better than we think!

    • Chris says:

I do Little Red regularly between LHR and EDI/ABZ and have also done LHR/MAN about six times since it started and ABZ is certainly the most consistent load-wise although EDI is improving steadily. There are a lot of transfers on the ABZ, notably suits with American access linked to the oil industry.

    • BlueThroughCrimp says:

With the Dundee flight pulling out of City and moving to Stansted, and now Aberdoom finishing, it’s not a good time for non-Central Belt routes to LCY.
