Aggressive KLM £399 sale fares to China and Hong Kong

I don’t write any many airline fare sales on Head for Points – at least not compared to the number I get emailed about – but KLM is running a very short term sale to China which did catch my eye.

Until July 8th – so you have two days left to book – they are selling economy tickets to a number of Chinese cities plus Hong Kong for £399.

These are flights from Heathrow with a connection in Amsterdam.

You need to fly between 26th August and 30th September, which seems an oddly tight window but there you go! Your return flight must be from 1st October to 15th December. If you only want a short holiday you will need to fly in late September.

Full details can be found on the KLM website here.

There are also special offers to other destinations around the world but none seemed as aggressively priced as these China fares.

How to earn Flying Blue miles from UK credit cards

How to earn Flying Blue miles from UK credit cards (April 2024)

Air France and KLM do not have a UK Flying Blue credit card.  However, you can earn Flying Blue miles by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards.

These cards earn Membership Rewards points:

Membership Rewards points convert at 1:1 into Flying Blue miles which is an attractive rate.  The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 1 Flying Blue mile. The Gold card earns double points (2 per £1) on all flights you charge to it.

Also from various regional departure airports.

    Just to highlight….

Having spent wasted hours, when these were published on 1st July, and trying to get a permutation for a 1 or 2 week break at the start of September, and getting more and more frustrated that this was a scam, I eventually noticed the small print.

Fly between 26th Aug and 30th Sept…RETURN between 1st Oct and 15 Dec.

Aargh. Very sorry, that was not in the headline small print. I will adjust the post.

OT here, but Tesco has 200 bonus points available for pre-ordering CDs again. There are 5 eligible products:

    Now 88 (£13)
    The Pierces – Creation (£10)
Ella Henderson – Chapter One Deluxe Version (£11)
La Roux – Trouble in Paradise (£10)
Ella Henderson – Chapter One (£9)

Only worth it if you were going to buy the CD anyway!

Just to put this in perspective, 21 years ago I took a trip round SE Asia and flew KLM from Newcastle to Singapore & back. Fare paid was, I recall, £399 and that was only possible by flying out at the very end of June.
