Get a 20% discount when you buy Hilton HHonors points

For the first time that I can remember, Hilton is offering a special offer on purchases of Hilton HHonors points.

Until September 3rd, you will receive a 20% discount when you buy Hilton HHonors points via this link.

With a few exceptions, it will not make sense to buy 100% of the points needed for a Hilton redemption such as the Hilton Venice above.  I tend to value them at 0.3p, although a ‘cash and points’ redemption can get you up to 0.5p.  Under this promotion you are paying 0.8 cents, so just a touch under 0.5p.

If you need to top off your account to reach the right level for a redemption then this is not a bad deal.

Before you buy, remember that you can also transfer American Express Membership Rewards points to Hilton (at 1:2) as well as Virgin Flying Club miles (1:1.5, details on this page).

  • Kipto says:

As you have often mentioned in the past raffles, the amount of points you need to get reward nights with Hilton does not make it worthwhile.

    • Andrew (@andrewseftel) says:

Not always. Five nights at a Category 1 for $160 isn’t too bad at all. Your booking will be flexible too (although in this case you obviously wouldn’t get your cash back, just the points).

  • littlefish says:

Just to check, presumably buying some HHpoints gets you past HHonors nasty 1 year expiry rule?

    • Rob says:

      Not sure to be honest

    • Simon says:

It has for me in the past, don’t know whether it still would if you buy during the bonus period but can’t see why not.

  • Caroline says:

Hi, a bit off topic but can you collect Hilton points on hotel bookings through third party websites? Thanks

    • Alan says:

No (unless the hotel mistakenly awards them) – under the HHonors T&Cs you get elite benefits on 3rd part stays but you don’t earn stay/points credit for the room.

  • Caroline says:

    Okay thank you
