Plaza Premium Lounge now open in Heathrow Terminal 2 – more terminals soon

I wrote about the United Club lounge in the new Heathrow Terminal 2 recently.  This is the only Priority Pass lounge in the terminal for anyone who is not flying on a business or first class ticket.  It is excellent.

Terminal 2 does now have a ‘pay for entry’ lounge in the shape of Plaza Premium.  The Plaza Premium brand is little known in Europe but they are a well established operator of luxury independent airline lounges in Asia, Canada and the Middle East.

I have been invited to tour the new lounge and hope to get over there next month.  In the meantime, here is a photograph supplied by the company:

As the company itself says:

Sleek, contemporary and accessible to all, Plaza Premium Lounge will offer travellers five luxury shower rooms, five private en-suite relaxation rooms, a wellness spa area with an exclusive treatment menu by British organic spa brand, ILA, a champagne bar, and a selection of food, drinks, tapas and freshly baked artisan breads. Business facilities including high-speed Wi-Fi, a selection of international newspapers and magazines, televisions and full flight information are also offered.

The standard rate is £38 for a two hour visit.  During August, this is being reduced to £28 as an opening offer.  This includes a free 5-minute massage.  If you are heading off on a special trip this month from Terminal 2, it is certainly worth considering.

You will find the lounge in the main Terminal 2 building, not the B satellite.  The opening hours are 5am to 11pm.

Interestingly, in an email this week, Heathrow Rewards said that you will be able to redeem points for entry.  It is not yet showing on the Heathrow Rewards site as a redemption option however.

Meanwhile, Plaza Premium has revealed that it is working on two further projects at Heathrow.  It is currently working on an Arrivals Lounge in Terminal 2 and an airside departure lounge in Terminal 4.  The Terminal 4 lounge is slated for a 2014 opening – no date was given for the Terminal 2 arrivals lounge.

HSBC Premier World Elite Mastercard gets you get a free Priority Pass card, allowing you access to the Priority Pass network.  Guests are charged at £24 although it may be cheaper to pay £60 for a supplementary credit card for your partner.
