Now 1,200 Avios for just £4.99 with ‘Spiderman 2’ from blinkbox

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about a new deal from Tesco’s digital download service blinkbox:

Spider-Man-2-no_offer

Until September 13th, you will earn 500 Clubcard points (1,200 Avios or 1,250 Virgin Flying Club miles) when you buy ‘Spiderman 2’ from blinkbox. Note that you need to buy the film and not rent it.

When I wrote the original article, the film cost £9.99 to buy.  You were therefore paying 0.8p per Avios point.

Blinkbox has now launched a half-price promotion for new customersYou need to click here to register.

Blinkbox will then email you a code for a 50% discount on your first purchase.  There does not seem to be any restriction on using this, so you should be OK to use it to buy your copy of ‘Spiderman 2’ for just £4.99.

The code takes the cost per Avios or Virgin Flying Club miles down to under 0.4p!  This is a great deal and well worth doing.

Note that the half-price movie offer only runs to 7th September, even though the ‘Spiderman 2’ deal runs until 13th September.

  1. The 500 points for this haven’t posted for me yet, I suspect everyone will get them at the same time like the books?

Also the wrap around ad was kind

    • Caught the done button there :/ kind of amusing since it was promoting the same offer you were writing about!

  2. Sadly that offer wasn’t there for me just now but still took the cash back.

  3. Presumably you mean new customers and not new sales? Anyway, great work. My Mum and my partner will soon both be wathing spiderman! Thanks

    • Globetrotter7 says:

Sort of… It said all new customer sales.

Ga! I hope they both enjoy their movies lol

  4. Oh, shoot. It seems there are two different “Spiderman 2” movies on Blinkbox, be careful to buy The amazing one… and not the older one I bought :(

  5. The deposit £1 offer seems to have gone

  6. Note that this is “First Movie Purchase” for the discount – I’ve already bought Game of Thrones but this works too :)

    • Globetrotter7 says:

Yep. That’s because GoT is classed as a TV show not a movie. I did the same on my partner’s account.

  7. There’s also a deal for a free tub of icecream when you buy or rent 3 movies or shows – as anyone actually got 3 to try it out? I’ve just bought GoT and Spiderman…

  8. Thanks for this. It was difficult to add the tesco clubcard, for some reason 2 of my cards weren’t being accepted. Anyone had any issues with this?

    • Have you previously bought physical DVDs from Tesco (or more accurately, Tesco Direct I think) using these clubcards?

If so what I believe they sometimes do is create a Blinkbox account with that Clubcard number attached to it as some DVDs bought at Mr T’s give you the online copy of the film free via Blinkbox.

One of my cards is permanently tied to a Blinkbox account because of this. With other Blinkbox accounts I have created myself I can add/delete clubcard numbers at will but this one account doesn’t have the option to remove the linked card.

  9. tescos might (if they stick to they only t&c only pay you the real money part of the order in CC points so £1.51

    9) Customers making purchases with Promotional Credit will not receive any Tesco Clubcard Points for such purchases. If Promotional Credit is used to partially cover the cost of the movie or TV show purchased, then points will be allocated only to the part that was paid by Debit/Credit card or gift card credit.

    • I would argue that if Clubcard points are on receipt (I saved Purchase Summary) then they must be credited.

      • ankomonkey says:

This isn’t true of online grocery orders. The delivery receipt points are sometimes different to the order summary points.

      1. As per our T&Cs standard Tesco Clubcard points can only be collected when making a debit, credit or gift card purchase and not when using complimentary credit.

[My instant read of T&C is as follows:- if there is credit (or debit/gift card) involved in the purchase then a transaction is eligible.]

      2. However, extra Clubcard points such as the 500 points for purchasing The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will always be credited regardless of your payment method. You’ll get your extra points even if you’ve used a sign-up offer or complimentary credit as part of your purchase.

      [This removes any doubts]

  10. Those who used the half price voucher – was it emailed to you instantly after signing up?

I signed up half an hour ago and no emails from blinkbox in my inbox or spam..

  11. I meant to put it takes 48 hours for CC points to appear on your account

    • Sadly CC points from Blinkbox don’t post that quickly – points for the cash spend do post within a couple of weeks however bonus points take a lot longer – they will post by the end of the current earning quarter, so 17th October ish.

  12. When trying to use the code BUY50 it tells me it has already expired!

Anyone had their Lego Movie or Game of Thrones bonus points (500 and 1,000 respectively) from the Blinkbox offer in July yet?
