The Accor hotel group has launched a surprisingly generous promotion with Lufthansa Miles & More running until 31st December.

Full details are here.

Sofitel Heathrow Accor

If you choose to earn airline miles instead of collecting points in Le Club Accorhotels, Accor will give you 3,000 Miles & More miles on top of the usual 500.

Note, however, what their definition of a qualifying stay is:

A stay is defined as one night or several consecutive nights in the same hotel: at least one night at Sofitel, Pullman and MGallery hotels, at least two nights with Novotel, Suite Novotel, Mercure and Adagio, at least four nights at ibis or ibis Styles hotels.

Since you need to stay more nights at the cheaper brands to qualify for miles, this promotion is never going to be worth a mattress run (where you book a local hotel, check in and then go home).

That said, if you are travelling in a cheap part of the world, such as Asia, it would represent a significant rebate on the cost of a Sofitel, Pullman or MGallery room.  I found the two Pullman hotels in Bangkok at £58 for a random Saturday in November.

However, if you are active in Miles & More then this is not a bad deal if you are doing the stays anyway.  Lufthansa miles are not the easiest to earn, especially as they are not an American Express Membership Rewards partner.

A lot of good M&M promos at the moment. Thanks for highlighting them Rob. With benefit of hindsight I regret not taking up the credit card bonus earlier this year. Would bave been a giod year for useful miles diversificatiin with little effort.

    • Raffles says:

Pretty sure an 11,500 or 15,000 bonus will be back in the next 6 months, as well as the Starwood Amex annual 20k promo.

  • James67 says:

Thanks Rob, will study their award chart and decide if this is worth a turn. With a prolonged trip to Asia coming up I can certainly cash in on the hotel program.

  • Nick says:

The wording is not as clear as it could be, which is a bit of a recurring issue with M&M.

I read ‘A stay is defined as one night or several consecutive nights in the same hotel’ to mean that you could score the promotion with one night, but if you stayed three nights in a Novotel, that could be counted as two stays (the first two nights ‘one stay’ and then one night)?

Maybe it needs a few Oxford commas – ‘A stay is defined as one night, or several consecutive nights, in the same hotel’?
