Sheraton, part of the Starwood Preferred Guest programme, has launched an interesting promotion for anyone booking a club / executive lounge level room at its 350 Club lounge hotels this Autumn.

Until 2nd December, you will receive:

500 bonus SPG points for a one-night Club stay

1,000 bonus SPG points for a two-night Club stay

3,000 bonus SPG points for a 3+ night Club stay

Starwood SPG

There is no limit to the number of times you can earn the bonus.  However, all stays must be paid for with an American Express card.

I value SPG points at a touch over 1.5p each based on recent redemptions.  That would represent £45 of value on a 3-night stay, which might be enough to tilt you towards taking a club level room.

Because SPG benefits are not incredibly generous for SPG Gold (mid tier) members, a club room can be a decent option.  You would receive free breakfast in the lounge plus evening drinks and snacks.  Sheraton also offers free wi-fi in its lounges – SPG Gold members can claim free in-room wi-fi, of course, but that means turning down the alternative of 250 SPG points.

Interestingly – for anyone who thinks it is only expense-account business travellers who book into the executive lounge – Sheraton claims that 46% of Club bookings are from tourists.  41% are from business travellers whilst the balance are on a combined ‘work and holiday’ trip.

Note that this promotion is ONLY available at Sheraton hotels and no other SPG brand.  Full details and booking information can be found here.

Hehe it’ll have be a pretty amazing bonus to make it worthwhile given how poor their existing card is on the redemption front!

  • Nick says:

Bit of an odd one on the Amex BA card. The reward for applying for the card has reduced to 18,000. However, the amount that the applicant gets if referred is still 26,000. So, if anybody did miss yesterday’s deadline then you just need to find someone to refer you, which should not be difficult.
