Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

2,000 Avios per stay with Small Luxury Hotels of the World

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Last week I showed you how to get free ‘Loved’ status with Small Luxury Hotels of the World, guaranteeing you free breakfast and potentially other benefits on your stays.

SLH is also an official avios.com hotel partner and has just launched a new Avios promotion.

As long as you book and stay by December 31st, you will receive 2,000 Avios points for every stay of three or more nights. This is quadruple the standard rate of 500 Avios.

Full details can be found here.

You will need to join ‘The Club’ loyalty scheme (use the special link in this article to get ‘Loved’ status).  Ensure that your avios.com membership number is in your ‘The Club’ profile. You will not be able to receive Avios points by presenting your membership card at the hotel itself.

Remember that this is an avios.com promotion and you will need to give an avios.com account number.  A British Airways Executive Club number will not trigger the bonus.

SLH represents over 500 luxury boutique hotels in 70 countries so you should be able to find something to suit.

I stayed at one of their hotels in Milan last week! Any chance I can get the bonus avios (or even the base avios) retrospectively? I had no idea avios is their partner. 🙁

  • Phillip says:

BA obviously don’t want to upset Mr and Mrs Smith so just left the promotion to avios.com.

Slightly OT Raffles, but while we’re on hotels, I received a Hilton email about a 40% bonus when buying HHonors points. Worth considering?

    • Rob says:

I haven’t run the number yet but there will be a post on this in the next few days, it is on my list!

  • David says:

Any suggestions to which is the best (cheapest) way to use Avios to book hotel stays?

    Thanks.

    • Rob says:

The hotel booking system on ba.com effectively lets you use your Avios for 0.6p each to book a huge number of hotels.

The only other option is to do a swap with someone who has a lot of hotel points and you book a flight for them whilst they book hotel rooms for you.

Off-topic, but my Iberia Plus news email tells me that Hailo (which has been discussed on this site) now offers Avios – you can get 400 Avios just for adding your Iberia Plus number to your account, plus earning points for bookings.

Just tried this, does not work. Looks like you need the Spanish-language version of the app from the Spanish app store.
