Club Carlson, the Radisson / Park Inn / Park Plaza group, has launched its November and December promotion.

It is a simple structure.  You will earn double points or double nights towards elite status for every stay between now and the end of December.

You must register to take part – the registration page is here.

Unlike most chains, ALL Club Carlson properties participate in its promotions so there is no ‘opt out’ list to worry about.

Whether you should choose double points or double nights is down to your own personal situation.  Unless you are ‘very close but not quite there’ to retaining status, I would take the double points – this guarantees that you will see some benefit.

Double points is a very generous offer.  The standard earning rate with Club Carlson is 20 points per $1 spent which will double to 40 points per $1 under this promotion.

I tend to value Club Carlson points at £5 per 1,000.  This is based on using 9,000 points for a cheap Park Inn in the regions or 50,000 points for a luxury five-star in London.

Assuming $1.60 per £1, this means that you will receive 64 points per £1.  At £5 per 1,000 of value, this means you are receiving 32p in free stays for every £1 you spend.

The situation is even better if you have Club Carlson status.  A Club Carlson Gold member – which is the status you get for free with an American Express Platinum card – receives a 35% bonus on their base points.  This would mean receiving 27 base points per $1 plus 20 bonus points, taking you to 47 points per $1, 75 points per £1 and a 38% rebate.

Full details of the promotion, and the link to register, can be found here.

How to earn Radisson Rewards points and status from UK credit cards

How to earn Radisson Rewards points and status from UK credit cards (April 2024)

Radisson Rewards does not have a dedicated UK credit card. However, you can earn Radisson Rewards points by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards.

These cards earn Membership Rewards points:

Membership Rewards points convert at 1:3 into Radisson Rewards points which is a very attractive rate.  The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 3 Radisson Rewards points.

Even better, holders of The Platinum Card receive free Radisson Rewards Premium status for as long as they hold the card.  It also comes with Hilton Honors Gold, Marriott Bonvoy Gold and MeliaRewards Gold status.  We reviewed American Express Platinum in detail here.

‘Members only need to register once, but registration must be received before checkout of the first Eligible Stay to qualify’

So it seems to me that as my stay will be next week, i will be fine. Let’s see!

I was actually staying in a Radisson at the time I received word of this promotion and I registered before checking out of the hotel as required in the T&Cs. However, I checked into the hotel on 2nd November which was before the official promotion start date. Do you guys think this stay should qualify for double points? I didn’t receive them automatically but I can of course contact CC support.

          • Rob says:

You need to check the small print with things like this. You could argue for the bonus for the days that were in the qualifying period.

          • Idrive says:

The can clearly see you registered most probably even when. The guy told me he saw me registered when i called yday for an enquiry. I will let you know

  • goglobalnz says:

Book through the club carlson app for a bonus 3000 points, before November 16

  • Rob says:

They may renew it automatically or it may drop down and you need to fill in the Amex form again. You can never be sure.
