Don’t forget that ALL redspottedhanky loyalty points expire on 31 December

Head for Points has promoted quite a few redspottedhanky.com promotions this year, all of which gave you free loyalty points that could be redeemed for money off your next train trip.  This included Fantasy Golf and Fantasy Formula 1.

What you must remember – and what caught out some HfP readers last year – is that RSH loyalty points expire at the end of every year.

This is what the rules say:

All points and e-vouchers created from loyalty points will be valid for one calendar year from 1st January – 31st December. If you do not collect and redeem your points or e-vouchers by the end of the calendar year they will not be carried forward to the following calendar year.

The good news is that you can redeem ANY amount of redspottedhanky points for e-vouchers towards train travel.  There is no minimum and no maximum.  Last year I had 1291 points in early December and it got me a £12.91 e-voucher.

The voucher will arrive in your RSH account within 24 hours and will have an expiry date of 2020 based on previous experience.  Ignore what the rules say about e-vouchers expiring quickly – they don’t.

There is still the final round of points from the Fantasy Formula 1 competition due.  I imagine that, like last year, these will be delayed until January in order to stop them expiring almost immediately.

Thanks for the heads up – over £100 of points which I would have lost!

    Thanks for the reminder!

I had been holding off, optimistically waiting for a decent non-train redemption but better to cash-out for a RSH voucher I will eventually use than let the points expire in a few weeks!

  • Mark Smith says:

Thank you for this – £20 I’d have probably lost.

  • Ben says:

Is this right? I think I had an e-voucher in my account last year that expired on 31st December, but I might be getting confused with the newspaper vouchers…

RSH loyalty points, which you earn from the games and also at 1% for train bookings, must be converted into vouchers by the end of each year. The vouchers last unti 2020.

Other promos give you vouchers that last for 3 or 6 months.

Ben, call RSH if you’re not sure. RSH CS are very helpful in my experience.

You can buy a ticket with loyalty points & cancel it – you’ll lose a bit but gain another year on the points’ expiry date.

I think the last F1 points have not yet posted

raffles – do you think the £10 virgin wines gift voucher can be used on these frequent introductory offers (case of 12 for £50 etc)?
