Uber, the app-based taxi service that is doing surprisingly well in London and is also in Manchester, has launched in Leeds.  The company now operates in 225 cities globally.

At the moment, only the UberX service is available.  This is typically a Toyota Prius or similar.  Fares are exceptionally competitive with a short ride typically coming in at £5.

If you will be in Leeds in the near future, you can receive £15 of free ride credit which lasts indefinitely.  Simply click here sign-up to Uber using my refer-a-friend link.

This £15 sign-up bonus will also work in London and Manchester.

To book rides, you will need to download the Uber app to your Android or iOS device. If you register via the app and not the website, use ‘headforpoints’ as your Uber referral promotional code to get the £15 credit.

GetTaxi still offering £5 rides around London

If you will be in London over Christmas, don’t forget that taxi app GetTaxi is offering fixed-fare £5 rides of up to 10km for people who order a cab in Zones 3-6 of the London tube map.

This is a very aggressive deal and well worth taking advantage of if you can.  Full details can be found in this article from last month.

If you have not tried GetTaxi before, you can get a £10 ride credit by using my refer-a-friend promotional code.  Download the app from your local app store and (once you have verified your mobile phone number) click on the ‘Coupon Code’ box on the menu.

(A quick way of downloading the app if you are reading this on your phone is to click here and then click on the appropriate Android or iOS button.)

In the ‘Coupon Code’ box – which is on the personal details menu – enter GetTaxi discount code GTSZFWS.  £10 of free credit will be dropped into your account.

We talking Uber? Click on Payment from the app menu, it will show there.

If not, click on Promotions and enter the code. It will accept it if you did not use the code at sign up.
