Double Etihad miles in Business, Qatar Airways sale launched

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

I wrote about some of the current ex-UK fare sales yesterday.  An email from Qatar Airways has now dropped into my inbox with their offering.

Flights are available from London, Manchester and Edinburgh.  The sale fares are available until January 20th and you can book for travel up to November 30th.

The current sale offers are here.  Both economy and business class deals are available, with business class deals starting at £1460 to Delhi.  £1885 to Johannesburg is a touch cheaper than most other sales.  Don’t forget I reviewed the Qatar 777 and Qatar 787 business class seats a couple of months ago.  Economy prices start at an exceptionally cheap – when you factor in UK Air Passenger Duty – £350 to Muscat in Oman.

Double miles with Etihad in business class

If any of the Etihad sale offers I mentioned yesterday interested you, the airline is offering double Etihad Guest miles for all business class flights until 31st March.  First Class flights will earn triple miles.

You MUST register for this promotion via this page on the Etihad website.

It is ONLY valid for new bookings made before the end of January and flights to Australia are excluded.

Etihad is unique among airlines in letting you redeem Etihad Guest miles for hard cash.  You can use their PointsPay scheme to convert your miles at roughly 0.4p each into a Virtual Visa card for online shopping.

How to earn Etihad Guest miles from UK credit cards

How to earn Etihad Guest miles from UK credit cards (April 2024)

Etihad Guest does not have a UK credit card.  However, you can earn Etihad Guest miles by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards.

Cards earning Membership Rewards points include:

Membership Rewards points convert at 1:1 into Etihad Guest miles which is an attractive rate.  The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 1 Etihad Guest mile. The Gold card earns double points (2 per £1) on all flights you charge to it.

Registration doesn’t open until the 31 Dec.

    Hi,

I’m not familiar with the Etihad terminology.

When they say triple First miles does that mean 3x the normal mileage you’d get for a First class flight or 3x the base miles ie actual miles flown?

I understand from a tier mile point (bonus for membership level and miles for upgrading to next membership tier would be excluded)

    Thanks

The former I imagine – there was an example of earnings in the email I got.

I don’t understand how this works either. The email I got says earn up to 74,000 miles for AUH-JFK in first. A roudtrip is 13,734 miles according to gcmap and a 5.5x multiplier would yield 75,537 miles – but I can’t figure out how a 5.5x multiplier makes sense given their earning table here: http://www.etihadguest.com/en/earn-miles/how/

Hello all, I need some advice from you experts:

I need 815 Tier Points for Gold, So I want to do a MilRun from 2- 8 may (dates are final because its my holiday) Base Airport RTM/AMS
Normally I was thinking AMS to JFK and then some 210 LAX or other USA city.
But I also read some nice stories about doing a run heading to Asia, like AMS-LHR-Dubai-Singapore or AMS-KUALUM-SIG.
I would really try the business service from Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways. (to bad that I wont be earning Avios Tier bonus)
Hoping to get some help from you.
    Budget:1800 Euro
