  Look out for best rate opportunities. Expedia and others have these rates marked up as Winter Sale on theiir websites, so there is no dispute, the rate has the same Ts and Cs. I scored the Heathrow Garden Inn for 18 quid.

  The website lists 32 hotels in London and no prices until you click through to book. Is there any you’d particularly recommend for a rare touristy weekend in London?

    Best thing to do would be to use the main Hilton website to get a view of which hotels are priciest and which cheapest, and then go back to the sale site to book. Hilton Tower Bridge (by the river) and Hilton Canary Wharf are both modern hotels and decently priced at weekends. Both well connected for the tube into the centre. The Doubletrees at Tower Hill and Westminster are well regarded as they used to be part of the Mint chain. The hotels in the tourist centre are more of a mixed bag. Hyde Park (not the Park Lane tower) was having a massive refurbishment last time I was there which should be finished now and is walkable to Selfridges.

    I just had a 4 night stay at Doubletree Islington with my Mum early January and everything is perfect. The staff is the best I’ve ever seen and I was given lounge access although was only upgraded to Deluxe (I’m gold). Their lounge serves hot food in the evening!

  Does anyone have any experience of whether the £250 spend on AMEX for the £50 statement credit can be achieved by cumulative spend? I have a prepaid reservation for Hilton at LGW to incl parking and wondered if I booked another stay to take me over the £250 I could qualify? I’d imagine it’s £250 in one transaction?

    I imagine the same. If the rules are unclear Amex may give you the money on request if you complain.

  Has the Hilton promo maxed out? Tbh I was just checking which cards were enrolled in our house. We have 6 Amex’s. I may have done all 6, I can’t remember whoops but now it says:

  Unfortunately The Maximum Number Of Cardmembers Have Already Enrolled In This Offer.

  I suggest they take it down or say ‘full’ rather than encouraging me to fill it out!
