Bits: 1500 bonus Iberia Avios with any booking, 40% off Hilton points, KLM £396 to SIN/BKK, Kaligo offer extended

Some news in brief:

1,500 bonus Avios with a flight booking on iberia.com

Until next Tuesday 17th March, you will 1,500 bonus Avios in Iberia Plus when you book a cash flight on iberia.com.  This is not automatic – you need to be logged in to your Iberia Plus account and register via the link under ‘My Promotions’.

Remember that you don’t have just Iberia options on iberia.com.  I know from previous experience that Vueling bookings will receive it, for example.  Any BA flight from the UK to Spain can also be booked on the Iberia site under an IB flight code.

The bonus Avios will be added between April 15th-30th and you can only earn one bonus per account.

Bonus Avios

20%-50% bonus when you buy Hilton HHonors points

Hilton is currently offering a bonus of 40% when you buy 10,000+ points.  Smaller purchases attract a 20% bonus.

Take a look here.  A 40% bonus, at the highest 80,000 points level, meant 112,000 points for $800.  I wouldn’t value them at more than $550 so this is NOT a route to cheap free nights.

If you need to top off your account to reach a specific target, however, it is worth a look.  It is not clear if this offer is targeted or open to all – you need to take a look.  I wasn’t emailed about it but could buy at this rate.

KLM specials to Singapore and Bangkok

KLM emailed me with details of a special £396 economy fare to Singapore or Bangkok.  You can depart from any KLM airport in the UK.  This is ONLY available until the end of today, Friday.

You can check available dates for Singapore here (mainly May and June) and Bangkok here (May and June also lowest priced).  KLM is a SkyTeam member so you would be earning miles in Flying Blue or another SkyTeam scheme such as those from Delta or Alitalia.

Kaligo 350 2

HFP Kaligo.com promotion extended

Due to technical issues, some people had issues booking with Kaligo on Wednesday.  Our exclusive Head for Points deal is therefore continuing until the end of Friday.

You will earn 1,000 additional Avios points on every booking, however cheap.  This is exclusively for HFP readers and is ON TOP of the standard Avios points you would earn (200+ per night) and ON TOP of anything you earn from their current special offer.

As a reminder, the main Avios offer from Kaligo.com until March 31st is:

3,000 bonus Avios if you spend £250 cumulatively by 31 March

10,000 bonus Avios if you spend £500 cumulatively by 31 March

20,000 bonus Avios if you spend £1,000 cumulatively by 31 March

Full details of the Head for Points offer can be found in this article from MondayThe special HFP booking list – which is the only way to get the extra 1,000 Avios – is here.

Re Hilton. View from the Wing is reporting that Hilton has repaired the glitch that will give you 1000 points for changing your password. New deadline is 25 March. I will wait a few days before doing mine just to be sure.

    • Yes, I’m guessing he got the info from Erin’s post on FT (she’s the Hilton rep to FT) confirming it was all sorted now – I’ve done my password change :)

  2. James67 says:

Anybody had their 1000 hhonors bonus points for updating password?

KLM has some sort of premium economy seats you can select for a fee online. Cannot recall details but I thought prices were not too bad considering what BA charges for WTP.

  3. The Iberia promotion does not appear under the “My promotions” section of my newly created Iberia Plus account. Any step of the process I am missing?

  4. Rich01924 says:

Re: the KLM – what’s more interesting is that if you search out of AMS to SIN there are some great deals to be had – found business class on 1st July, returning on 14th July for c.£1300 – not as great as the Tokyo £900 deals (thanks again for that got back last week :)); but still worth a look…

    • Hi Rich. Did I miss the Tokyo deal? Where was this?

      • Rich01924 says:

        Sadly last year….

        • Rich01924 says:

Raffles has just let me know that Qatar would be an even better deal – same dates AMS to SIN just over 1600 EUR; and Hemz Tokyo on those dates would be just under 1650 EUR out of AMS

          • Presumably, the AMS – SIN deal with KLM is direct, though, which some prefer over the stop in Qatar.

          • Think of the BA tier points though – 560 return – plus all the Krug you can drink whilst waiting for your connection in Doha!

  5. Anyone happen to know if IB award the bonus avios even if you book a flight for someone else?

    • Conor McCully says:

I would like to know the same. If not, I might just make two bookings – one from my IB account and the other from my wifes account.

    • cowbell says:

I phoned them and they said as long as I registered, logged in and bought a flight I should get the points. I asked because while I logged in, I credited my flight to my BAEC account so that I earn at their higher rates; but I still wanted to gain the bonus. I didn’t ask your particular question but I think it would still go to whoever registered, logged in and bought a flight, regardless who it’s for.

  6. If you booked a Hilton or Accour hotels through Kaligo.com would you still get there respective reward points as well as the Avois points from Kaligo.com?

    • No, you won’t earn points or stay credit if you book through a third-party.

  7. Gabriel says:

Is it possible to book a BA flight through Iberia and get the bonus avios, even if the destination is not in Spain?

    • Re the Iberia offer. Yes you can book your flights to anywhere as long as it is via its website. I tend to book a one-way BA short haul flight to Europe e.g. Amsterdam, depending which leg is the cheapest at the time. As Iberia tends to have this offer once every 2-3 months, I book the other leg when it is on again, or use a reward flight.

  8. If you book on iberia.com are your status points that you receive pooled with BA status points or separate? Obviously this would be a downside of this promotion if you normally fly BA?

    • No they’re totally separate schemes, they just share Avios as a rewards currency which is transferable between the schemes. You can’t move status points between them.

  9. Given that Virgin has no hub in Europe, I suppose it’s not entirely unreasonable that they should be leaving the AMEX Euro MR scheme.

  10. Maximum power says:

Just booked a hotel stay on Kaligo initially showed my 1000 bonus miles then, after confirmation has reverted to showing only the standard booking miles? This is the original issue?
