Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Earn Avios via Clubcard when buying tyres from blackcircles.com

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

A few years ago, Tesco launched a business called Tesco Tyres.  This has now been closed down, but the company which ran it – Scottish group blackcircles.com – continues to offer Clubcard points via its own website.  These can be easily converted into Avios points or Virgin Flying Club miles.

blackcircles.com is an online tyre retailer but with fitting agreements with 1,500 garages across the UK.  You select your garage and your tyres are then delivered directly to the fitter.

The standard earning rate is 1 point per £1 spent.  At present, there are bonus deals running:

4 points per £1 on Quality Choice, Michelin

2 points per £1 on Hankook, Kumho, Yokohama

1 point per £1 on Bridgestone, Firestone and own-label

blackcircles.com has a price match policy if you can find cheaper tyres elsewhere, so the Avios should be a genuine bonus on top.  The company has a decent reputation from what I have read about it, although I have not used it personally.

Have used it and was very impressed. It does boil down to which garage you end up using – they work with numerous local garages, so if you know they will do a good job, it’s worth it. Good customer service too.

  • Phillip says:

Also, the addition of Paypal, which was not available a few years back when they first started their partnership is another added bonus as you can use it for Amex purchases which are otherwise not accepted.

  • Dave R says:

I’ve used them once and they were pretty good. I had 2 small issues though… I paid extra to use one of their premium garages and they changed the booking to a normal garage but didn’t automatically refund the extra charge. I also didn’t receive any clubcard points. Both issues were resolved with 1 phone call though.

  • Adam W says:

I seem to recall using them a couple of years ago when they were running a nice bonus point promotion. It certainly took a bit of the sting out of replacing all four tyres. Points posted quickly and without the need to chase!

    • aceman says:

same here, used them when they had a bonus on 19 inch tyres, I think it was about 8000 bonus points was very handy! points posted pretty well

  • Think Square says:

Have you got a reference for the price match policy? If they have one, they don’t shout about it.

They were v expensive last time I was shopping for tyres, which is a shame because their customer service is/was great.

  • Chilibenny says:

I bought four new Blue Response tyres through them last year. One tyre however was refused by the garage as it had a defect so I had to go back for a replacement tyre on another day.
Customer services were very good about it and agreed to my request for additional points as compo – almost doubling my points total for the four tyres
