Exclusive Heathrow Terminal 2 offers for Star Alliance Gold and Silver members

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

If you have a Star Alliance Gold or Silver membership card, a number of special offers have been launched which can be redeemed at the new Terminal 2 at Heathrow.  This is now home to all of the Star Alliance airlines, amongst others.

For Gold members, the best one is a free First Class upgrade on Heathrow Express.

You can redeem this as many times as you like up to May 31st.  Note that you must be travelling on a full-fare Standard Class ticket which means that you cannot link it to the 12% discount for Mastercard holders which is currently available.

The other offers are valid for both Gold and Silver cardholders:

10% off at WH Smith when you spend £10

50% off Heathrow Meet & Assist

10% off Heathrow Valet Parking

50% off Heathrow Porter service

£20 off £100 spend at Thomas Pink

£10 off £150 spend at World Duty Free

free drink with a meal at The Gorgeous Kitchen

Apart from the Heathrow Express deal (which requires you to show your Star Alliance Gold card), the other offers are more flexible and it seems you only need to quote the relevant code.

Is there a good status match offer at the moment for star alliance gold?

    • Rob says:

Turkish – you get two years status as well. Search for my articles on how I did it.

  • Jason says:

Totally out of the blue, last week, I received a statement from Cathay regarding my gold card, which expired at the end of March. The statement showed my membership expiring April 2016, got the same for my wife as well. An unexpected bonus!

    • Fenny says:

Ooh, there’s good news. I hope they do the same with mine, due to expire in September.

  • Thegovier says:

Do any hotel schemes offer upgrades on Heathrow Express? I’ve got status on Hilton, Marriott and Intercontinental, but no Star Alliance.

  • Kai says:

OT question: Do points earned on food bills count as qualifying at IHG hotels? Especially on a reward stay,

    • Rob says:

Yes on a paid stay booked direct. No points earned on food on Expedia etc stays. Not sure about rewards.

Nice quiet thread for me to go off topic… 🙂

    1) Got offered the Amex Platinum Credit Card (as you have covered in the past) as a “companion” to our Charge Card, with an offer of 3000 points if we spend £500 within 2 months (IIRC) – easily hit this but the points haven’t landed. Is there a different process of the Credit Card points hitting your account than with the Charge Card

    2) If I cancel my Charge Card (with 132k points), and luckily retain my Credit Card as you have previously mentioned, then are the 132k points still accessible even though the card is cancelled? I always assumed it would be merged into one big MR pot, but they are listed under the seperate cards within my account

    • Kai says:

Had the same problem. Messaged to ask for the accounts to be merged and then for the bonus points to be manually added.

    • mark2 says:

Not necessarily the same, but with the Gold Card equivalent credit card I had spent just over £500 but the MR points were just under (for no apparent reason). When I made a further small purchase to take MR over 500 the 3,000 bonus appeared immediately.
      Hope this helps.

      • AndyGWP says:

Cheers – on 495 points so will spend a fiver and see what happens 🙂

  • Alex says:

Strictly speaking Air India still uses T4!

  • Modern Day Sinbad says:

Do you have to be flying with a Star Alliance airline on the day to use the Heathrow Express upgrade? I can’t see any T&Cs, so I suspect not.
