A lot of good hotel promotions ended on April 30th with no obvious replacements.  As we are now into May, I thought it was worth doing a quick recap of the best hotel promotions currently available.

Club Carlson

The standout promotion for me at the moment is the Club Carlson ‘triple points’ offer (ends 28th June).  As I explained in this article, you will get half of what you spend back in free nights, assuming you value their points at £5 per 1,000.

Club Carlson covers Radisson, Park Inn and Park Plaza.  One good thing about this offer is that there are no minimum stay requirements – the triple points kick in from your first booking and even one-night stays qualify.  You can register for the offer here.

Le Club Accorhotels

There is a new promotion launching on Monday which offers 10,000 Avios or €200 in credit for booking 3 x 2-night staysFull details are in this article.

Hilton HHonors

The current ‘double points’ or ‘double miles’ offer runs until May 31st.  It is not life-changing, to be honest.  Full details in this article.

IHG Rewards Club, Marriott Rewards, Starwood Preferred Guest and Hyatt Gold Passport

Nothing .  There is a new IHG promotion for members in North America but nothing for the rest of the world.  Hyatt, Starwood and Marriott have nothing for anyone, anywhere.

You may want to look elsewhere for the next few weeks.

Kaligo.com

With many of the big chains having little to offer, it may be worth looking at the specialist booking companies.

The current Kaligo.com promotion of 3,000 bonus Avios for every booking of £200 or more made by 30th June is worth a look.  This is on top of the standard Avios points that Kaligo.com would give you for your stay.  You can book now for stays at any point in the next 12 months.

Rocketmiles, a similar business to Kaligo, is also offering 3,000 Avios if you book a hotel through them, with no minimum spend – details here.  This is only valid for first-time Rocketmiles customers, however, whereas the Kaligo.com offer is open to anyone.

Rocketmiles has also just launched with Virgin Flying Club and is offering 3,000 miles on your first booking – more on that promotion soon.

  • Dan says:

Totally agree on the club Carlson promo. I use radisson reasonably regularly for work trips – currently earning 12,500 points per £125 stay, with double points and 35% gold bonus.

Still 2 months to go too!

    • Joe says:

I did a stay on the triple points promo in mid-April. The triple points still have not posted, so make sure you check and chase up.

      • Dan says:

I’m I’ve had the same problem on two of my recent stays. Had to chase but the points were credited to my account with 12 hours – both times

        • Joe says:

Also worth noting that it does NOT work on points plus cash bookings, even though you earn normal points on such bookings. So they say… although I can’t see that in the T&Cs.

  • VP says:

The last date for booking Etihad offer is 31 May. I have used Rocketmiles a 3-4 times of late and have another couple of booking pending so I won’t say I am an expert but thought of sharing my experience.
    1) You earn miles for booking for other people & you can split earnings in different airline schemes (though not really recommended unless a top up is essential)
    2) If A refers B, normally both A and B get 1K extra for first booking completed by B. If B uses 3K/5K link, even though the system will show so initially B will not get the 1K extra on top of promotional link. However, A will still get 1K. So in case of family account you can actually get upto 6K for Etihad or 5K (other airlines using 3K link..as it is 3K extra + 1K normal i.e 4K for B and 1K for A for referring) for one booking. All valid first time only of course.

So, if you require 2 nights. You can book first night from your new account & get 5K (Etihad) or 4K (BA Avios or any other airline). For the second night, you should refer someone, who can register using your link and then use the 5K/3K link to book a hotel in your name. Thus, you can squeeze out an extra 1K .

Rob has already mentioned this but along with limited hotels, Rocketmiles may not always be cheapest and usually they take the payment immediately with booking refundable upto 3 days before arrival. I am not a fan of both these policies hence use them only for the first time bonus or referrals.

  • Tim_t says:

I got an email offer from IHG for 10000 points after 8 nights between 1st May and end of August.

    • Lee Thornton says:

What was the offer code? It usually appears on the registration page for the promotion which will be linked in the email you received from IHG. Thanks!

  • Tariq says:

Eagerly awaiting the next Hilton and Club Carlson promos. Have a Park Inn stay booked on 29/06… typical! They did status match me to gold though against my IHG platinum status earned off the credit card… 🙂 so here’s hoping for good bonuses for both of those chains.

  • gs says:

IHG is already running their next promotion: see eg. http://loyaltylobby.com/2015/04/16/ihg-rewards-club-hurdle-promotions-return-for-may-1-august-31-2015/
My offer was 15K points for 15 nights, doubt i will reach that…

  • AC says:

If you use the “Happy Mondays” booking portal, you could have 3 x 2 night stays, which would cost in a non-central London (or rest of UK) Ibis 25 * (3*2) = £150. That would give you gold status (if you have no status beforehand), and you’d also get €200 of Accor hotel vouchers. The hotel vouchers are equivalent to £148 (using today’s exchange rate). If you plan on using the hotel vouchers, then effectively you pay £2 for gold status and 6 nights in a hotel.

    • Kai says:

Your maths doesn’t work here since the points can only be used against your next bookings. You are still paying 150! Unless you used your points for your Ibis stays, which can’t be done…

      • AC says:

I should have worded it better. I am planning on using my hotel vouchers, for a stay I would have made regardless. Therefore, I am getting 8 nights in Accor properties, for £150.

  • Rob says:

Running that tomorrow – I keep pushing it back …..

    • Ralph says:

Rules say it’s open to US residents only, did it anyway for the two minutes it took, interested to know what the chances are of getting the thousand miles?

  • Janeyferr says:

I had a random 20,000 points appear in my club accor account yesterday, but they’re gone again now :-S

    • Fenny says:

I’ve had that a couple of times since Feb.

    • RIcatti says:

It is nothing and a bug.

Accor has a problem with their websit. The entire section where one sets Partner Airline earning preferences goes out of service at time.

      • Ralph says:

Accor has a problem with their websit. Hmmm, I hope zat zey feeks it in dee moaning!
