Bits: North America KLM deals, BA £932 Club World to New York, South West Trains deal

Here is some news in brief that accumulated whilst I was running around Stockholm (SAS), Toulouse (Airbus) and Heathrow this week – which accounts for the slightly disjointed flow of articles recently.  There are some very interesting stories from that trip to come next week, but for now:

North America business class deals with KLM and Air France

KLM and Air France have launched a number of business class deals to the US and Canada (some flights are operated by their codeshare partner Delta).

Prices are certainly not dirt cheap but could work for some.  Toronto is the cheapest at £1,899 return – these are prices from the UK.

The KLM deals are hereThe Air France deals are here.  You need to book by May 20th, travel dates vary.  These are all Skyteam airlines so you are likely to end up crediting the miles to the Air France / KLM Flying Blue scheme where they can be topped up with Amex points.

It is also worth checking the Air France link if you planning travel to the Middle East (£1200-ish) or Latin America (£1,500-ish).  Here is the new look Air France business class cabin – do check which aircraft currently have it before booking.

BA still selling New York for £900, however

If North America is on your mind, it is worth remembering that British Airways is still offering exceptional Club World fares out of Copenhagen.

I won’t go into these fares in detail again here.  As an example, though, last night I priced Copenhagen to New York JFK at 9,624 DKK for August.  That is just £932 for a return Club World ticket.  It is well worth having a play around at ba.com to see what you can find.

‘Kids for £1’ back for May half term on South West Trains

If you are worried about ways of entertaining the children over the May half term holiday, South West Trains has brought back its ‘kids for £1’ offer. Adult fares are also capped at £12 as part of the offer.

Tickets are valid across the SWT network from May 18th to May 29th and must be booked a day in advance. Details are here.

I’m guessing we’ll see a Club World sale from UK airports in the next few weeks. I usually wait for this each year before booking one of my regular transatlantic trips in July/August.

  • Jeremy says:

Quick beginner’s question – These are all flights with a connection, most of them via London Heathrow. What happens on the way back if you ask before you check in to just ‘get off’ in London?

    • Jonathan says:

You’re perfectly entitled to get off (or fail to transfer across London for the connection flight in time!), but if you do it regularly apparently BA catch on.

The bigger issues is the routing of your bag, it’s best if you can get a flight requiring a transfer in London, i.e. JFK -> LHR, LCY -> CPH. This means at JFK your bag is routed to LHR for you to collect and in theory make your way onto LCY. The alternative is to speak nicely to the check-in staff at JFK and ask them to route your bag to LHR.

It’s a shame but you’re not allowed to simply pick up the connection at LHR departing to JFK and skip the CPH -> LHR / LCY route. If you miss the initial flight BA will cancel the remaining connections.

    • Burton says:

Just do hand luggage, small backpack and suit bag if space permits 😉

  • Marly says:

That BA deal is amazing, fingers crossed it happens for departure from the UK soon, when does the promo for Coppenhagen runs until? It is really tempting…
Rob, as an expert, do you think it is likely to happen? I am going to nyc at the end of August, that would be a blast to catch a deal like that!

    • Rob says:

You will never see that price out of London, except possible over Christmas week.

      • Marly says:

Yeah, I do remember the 2 for 2015 deal, they all did it 🙂 worth considering trying to get away with getting off at LHR then…Thanks for your reply

  • Chris says:

If i bought the return out of Copenhagen in Club World…could i upgrade to F using Avios?

Would it be worth it even…?

    • Mark says:

I can’t think of any reason why not, so long as there is F redemption availability on the flights you book.

As to whether it is worth it, that’s a call that you would have to make…. It would be 20K avios per person each way on peak dates, probably a bit less than that off-peak.

OT POTENTIAL URGENT 30% OFF MOST IF NOT ALL ETIHAD GUEST FLIGHTS ON TUESDAYS & WEDNESDAYS

    Code for Tuesday is flytues11
    Code for Wednesdays is flywed01

    • James67 says:

EDIT: sorry, that should have read Etihad revenue flights.

  • Clive says:

OSL to LAX in Club £700 12-28/8. Book able on BA

    • Scott says:

Where are you seeing this? Searching same dates and its £1400?

  • Will says:

Presumably you can combine this with the bonus AA/BA transatlantic offer – get a lot of AA miles if you squeezed 3 trips in before the deadline

    • Rob says:

Yes, it would work – which actually pushes it almost (but not quite) into mileage run territory! £2800 for 115,000 AA miles PLUS all the base miles PLUS whatever status you would end up with, and of course three trips to New York.

  • Fenny says:

OT: In the last round of Avios Suitcase stickers, I did all the Apple Store check ins and racked up 1470 points. The points have all cleared down from my account, but only 30 have hit my Avios account. Is anyone else having issues with the points crediting across?
