  I’m guessing we’ll see a Club World sale from UK airports in the next few weeks. I usually wait for this each year before booking one of my regular transatlantic trips in July/August.

  Quick beginner’s question – These are all flights with a connection, most of them via London Heathrow. What happens on the way back if you ask before you check in to just ‘get off’ in London?

    You’re perfectly entitled to get off (or fail to transfer across London for the connection flight in time!), but if you do it regularly apparently BA catch on.

    The bigger issues is the routing of your bag, it’s best if you can get a flight requiring a transfer in London, i.e. JFK -> LHR, LCY -> CPH. This means at JFK your bag is routed to LHR for you to collect and in theory make your way onto LCY. The alternative is to speak nicely to the check-in staff at JFK and ask them to route your bag to LHR.

    It’s a shame but you’re not allowed to simply pick up the connection at LHR departing to JFK and skip the CPH -> LHR / LCY route. If you miss the initial flight BA will cancel the remaining connections.

  Rob, as an expert, do you think it is likely to happen? I am going to nyc at the end of August, that would be a blast to catch a deal like that!

    I can’t think of any reason why not, so long as there is F redemption availability on the flights you book.

    As to whether it is worth it, that’s a call that you would have to make…. It would be 20K avios per person each way on peak dates, probably a bit less than that off-peak.

  Presumably you can combine this with the bonus AA/BA transatlantic offer – get a lot of AA miles if you squeezed 3 trips in before the deadline

    Yes, it would work – which actually pushes it almost (but not quite) into mileage run territory! £2800 for 115,000 AA miles PLUS all the base miles PLUS whatever status you would end up with, and of course three trips to New York.

  OT: In the last round of Avios Suitcase stickers, I did all the Apple Store check ins and racked up 1470 points. The points have all cleared down from my account, but only 30 have hit my Avios account. Is anyone else having issues with the points crediting across?

      Mine was a 10 and a 20. Probably for things like linking social media accounts.
