Keep up to date with new hotel offers by signing up for our free daily or weekly newsletters.

Hilton HHonors has slipped out a short-notice promotion which will run for just under three weeks.

For every stay at a Hilton Group hotel before July 6th, you will receive 5,000 bonus Hilton HHonors points.

Remember that the Hilton Group includes Hampton, Waldorf-Astoria, Conrad, Doubletree and Embassy Suites as well as the main Hilton chain.

This offer works ON TOP of the current double points promotion which I wrote about here.

You MUST register at this page in order to receive the 5,000 bonus points.

I don’t value 5,000 Hilton HHonors points too highly.  £15 would be fair.  However, a £15 rebate on a cheap one night stay – on top of the double points offer – is a very good return.

The longer the stay, the less interesting the extra 5,000 points becomes.

It may be worth switching a few stays to a Hilton property over the next couple of weeks to take advantage of this.  However, you should also consider the current Club Carlson offer (Radisson, Park Inn, Park Plaza) which offers triple points on all stays until June 28th.

Don’t forget to register for the 5,000 bonus Hilton points via this link.

i can only see the offer to register for the MVP gold challenge, which seems to only count if you book stays in the US. I assume this won’t work at the Hampton Corby 🙂
Is there another challenge, I should be registering for, to get Gold in 4 stays?

    • Alan says:

MVP Gold challenge certainly used to work outwith the US 😉

      • jason says:

hi Alan, does outwith = outside
I’ll give it a go anyway.
Just tried to book a room tonight and it says room is no longer available when i click book reservation

        • Alan says:

Hi Jason – sorry, yes it does – I think outwith is just a more Scottish turn of phrase! Availability of reward rooms can be different when logged in, you might need to run the search again after logging in?

          • Alan says:

Yes you should be fine as you’re still booking through a Hilton channel 🙂

    • Rob says:

There are a few options but theoretically targetted at employees of certain companies. Google Hilton Nestle, Hiton Accenture, Hilton Berkshire Hathaway etc.

      • jason says:

i think i may have got the t&c’s mixed up.
it was referring to where you lived when you enrol and giving a telephone number for members outside the US, have registered to give it a go.
worst case scenario is 20 stays in next 3 weeks, probably wont make that though.

    • Brian says:

MVP worked fine for me with UK bookings. I got the email saying now have Gold status almost immediately after 4th stay,

  • Nathan says:

Can someone confirm that if I book a 5,000 points night at Corby I’ll get 5000 points back making the stay free? Because if that’s so I’m going to book to stay there every other night for the next 3 weeks haha!

    • DW201 says:

Thats what some of the comments above reckon. Im not convinced that even with a small spend on the room (local charge, 1 x beer etc) these will post on a reward stay but I have 2 coming up friday and sat so will try it out and report back 🙂

      • Alan says:

It just depends how they’ve coded the promo – certainly some of the Conrad/Waldorf promos credited fine for reward stays so it’s possible 🙂

    • Brian says:

No it has to be a cash booking.

    • Will says:

Try it. I did it some time ago as a diamon challenge and the 2000 points on a weeknight and 3000 points on a weekend night posted then for my points stay.

I was also given something like 30 free drink tokens (1 each for me and a partner for each night) as a gold at the time.

    • Dean says:

I stayed one night last Sunday. Bought a packet of crisps. Paid 5000 points received 5000 bonus points free night!!

  • mark2 says:

I have used this Wheeze to buy gift cards from Boots, Post Office, Argos with all eight Amex cards and have received the cash back in all cases.
IIRC not all card suppliers email immediately.

    • Brian says:

Hi thanks for the reply. To check, did you buy anything else in the transaction or just simply a £20 giftcard (if Boots) ?

      • mark2 says:

I just bought a £25 gift voucher using a BAPP supplementary card. The others at Boots I bought £25 3V cards with no other item, but no Boots points!

        • Jason says:

I did 2 yesterday, at boots using supp BAPP cards for 2 pay.com cards. Used a boots card for the first time, hadn’t on the other 7, no Boot’s points.
          Email received immediately from Amex.

  • Brian says:

Guys check your points applied before 31st May. Mine have been calculating wrong on the double points promotion.

My double points have been getting applied to the bonus (5/$) element. The double points should be applied to the base element (10/$).

    Hilton have manually applied these.

Also, I have had also had issues since 1st June re the points not being applied at all and Hilton working on this system issue.

  • mark2 says:

I notice that I have not received an actual HHonors(sic) card whereas I have for IHG.
Is this correct in others’ experience please?

    • ankomonkey says:

I reached Hilton Gold about two months ago and have yet to receive a plastic card. I took out the IHG credit card that gets you gold status with them and received an IHG Gold card within a month.

    • YL says:

I believe this is quite common, I think many people have not received a card for a long time.

I was told that it is something to do with the account setting, a CS once told me that if you opt not to receive any Post, even if you request the card, the system will just overwritten your request.

I think I only had a card once when I first signed up, but my Dad has never received a card, despite being a Diamond member.

I wouldn’t too worry about not having a card. I have never been asked to show the card.
As long as you book through your Hilton account, your Hilton no. or status will be visible to the hotel.

  • Brian says:

Amex advertising on Twitter new offers for redemption by 31st August. Can’t see anything in my account yet though.

  • mark2 says:

I am amazed at the disparities between cash price and points price for Hilton hotels.
For example: Doubletree by Hilton Ealing is £259 or 30,000 points while Hilton Wembley is £195 or 85,711 points.

Even within the same hotel: Hilton Quebec City where I am staying in Oct 15: City View, One King bed is C$419 or 50,000 points while a Parliament View Two Double beds is C$419 or 122,660 points.

    • Kai says:

You can only redeem standard rooms for a fixed amount of points. Premium rooms can be redeemed for a price of approximated 3 points per $.

    • Rob says:

The odd-numbered ones are ‘premium rewards’. This is where Hilton lets you book ANY room on points by effectively giving you 0.2p per point. (Occasionally some hotels offer enhanced premium rewards which are better value – I booked one at Conrad New York last year.) They are poor value but, frankly, you can’t complain about them because they give you an extra choice where previously you had none.

The ’round numbered’ rewards are standard reward inventory nights. That Hilton Ealing room is obviously a great deal on point – 0.8p vs the 0.3p I usually quote – but that is clearly a night where demand is extremely high because you wouldn’t pay £259 to stay in Ealing if you had the choice.

What you see for Quebec is relatively normal. City View rooms are offered for standard reward availability whilst Parliament View is not.

It can work the other way around. Imagine that Ealing is £49 a night in mid January. A standard room would still be 30,000 points but a ‘premium redemption’ for a superior room selling for, say, £54 at 0.2p per point would only be 27,000 points. You do see this situation occasionally.

  • RIccati says:

As Raffles pointed, there would be no way for AMEX/MBNA/Lloyds to tell what has been purchased, i.e., what is listed on a receipt.

There are certain exceptions when purchasing travel with an AMEX-issued card — ticket information gets passed to AMEX.
