HfP reader wins 1 million Hilton HHonors points!

Back in May, I wrote about a competition that Hilton HHonors was running to win 1 million Hilton points. This was only available to UK residents so I thought it was worth promoting.

I’m delighted to say that a HfP reader was the winner.

Even at my lowly valuation of 0.3p per point, he will get over £3,000 of free stays from his prize – and potentially far more.

1,000,000 points would get you 12 nights at the Conrad Rangali resort in The Maldives, for example, which is worth around £12,000.  (This assumes you are a Hilton elite member and get 5 nights for the price of 4 – and you get Hilton Silver status for free just by taking out the Hilton credit card.)

Well done.

Congratulations; I didn’t win anything but that’s normal haha 😛

  • Tim says:

    Thanks Tangey,

I’m Avios rich but sadly, Rewards poor as although I have Amex Plat, I find BA’s Premium Amex card to be much more lucrative, particularly with the 2for1.

As to other destinations, I appreciate there are others apart from Malé but my difficulty is finding something similar as we’d prefer to have a “wow” beach holiday such as this one.

    All suggestions welcome!

    All the best,
    Tim

OT: Can you link your Amex MR rewards to your account of choice without actually redeeming at the same time so that your account is linked in readiness for a future redemption. Or does it only get linked to a particular account after you have made the first transfer? If you can pre-link it where do you do this?

    • Rob says:

Yes. Some can be pre-linked via the MR website (go to the redemption page but do not make a redemption, it should let you just verify your partner account details).

If not, you can ring Amex (all calls go to Brighton, very helpful bunch) and they can do the link for you.

  • Steve says:

Hi, I have an Amex Premium card and will most likely (definitely) spend £10K this year (ends in Feb 2016) so will get the 2for1 and also will end up with around 125,000 Avios. I use my Amex whenever i can but need another card. I’m going to bin my Natwest Visa (no rewards) so wondered if a Hilton (silver?) Visa was the way to go? Cheers Steve

    • mark2 says:

I can definitely recommend the Hilton Visa as you get a free night for only a £750 spend, so easy for both of you to get it. It is also easy to get Gold status and there are lots of offers on points etc.

  • DUS says:

Is it standard practice for competitions like this one that the winners have to sign and send back affidavits?

    • Tim says:

I’m guessing you won too and if so, well done! I queried this when they asked for the same thing from me and it is normal apparently in order to verify age. However, they confirmed they don’t need it to be signed by a “notary” as we’re not in the US – just complete all the other details but by all means feel free to double check this with the organisers so you have it from them directly.

      Regards,
      Tim

    • Rob says:

When Rocketmiles did the Apple Watch competition with HFP earlier this year, they made the winner sign one. May be a US thing.

  • DUS says:

    Thank you, Tim!

  • Kevin says:

Congratulation to Tim and other runner up

  • Scott says:

I never win anything and over the years have maintained this perfectly 😉
