Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Earn 500 Clubcard points (1,200 Avios) with 79 different video game pre-orders

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Tesco Direct has launched a new promotion offering bonus Clubcard points when you pre-order certain upcoming video games.

There are 79 titles included in the offer when you include multiple formats!  FIFA 16, pictured below, is included.

You will receive 500 Clubcard points for every title you pre-order, which converts into 1,200 Avios or 1,250 Virgin Flying Club miles

Note that this offer is NOT available in-store, which means that we can’t repeat some of the great pre-ordering tricks of old …..!

You can see the full list of titles here.

Most are priced at £40 – £44 so, assuming that Tesco is pricing in line with Amazon etc, the Avios will mean a decent rebate on the price paid.

There isn’t enough margin here to justify buying the games to resell on eBay if you don’t want them for yourself.  The closing dates for the offer vary depending on the actual release date.

  • Tilly71 says:

  • Jason baxter says:

    Could this be in store

Where you only have to pay £5 for the preorder?

  • Michael says:

A friend of mine preordered Fifa instore yesterday and got the 500 points.

    • Zoe says:

That’s very exciting news. At airport hotel in KUL so can’t test other titles till the morning.

    • Rob says:

That would be very interesting if it is working … no corroboration in ‘the usual places’ yet. If the weather wasn’t so awful I’d be tempted to pop over to Earls Court myself …

      • Alex says:

Sunny in Edinburgh!! Will try in store in next hour and let you all know.

    • cheekychappie says:

If we are to believe OP here, might work on Fifa even if the other ones don’t.

  • Andy says:

The games are also eligible for ClubCard Boost, so £20 of vouchers will get you Fifa 16 (£40 when I ordered) and the 500 CC points on top. Obviously a balance of whether the Avios is more important to you, but to get the game for ‘free’ was quite nice since I rarely put in effort to get CC points.

  • Tilly71 says:

From my experience recently returning items now always get the bonus and Base points removed.

    • Liz says:

That’s what I thought – I ordered something online a while back and used my Tesco credit card and the item ended up not being in stock and I was given a refund and Tesco removed the points too.

  • Alex says:

Just been to Tescos and the extra points are NOT given for in store pre orders.
Invested £5 to Tescos profits for 5 points!!

    • Zoe says:

Thanks for trying. Means I can straight home from the airport in the morning. The KUL one world lounge is good BTW.
The priority pass one at Ho Chi Minh is pretty dire.

    • Rob says:

Thanks for taking one for the team Alex!

    • James67 says:

Appreciate your efforts. I expected as much, we had earlier concluded tesco learned there lesson on this already. Were they not dishing put vouchers for the bonus points to be added only when games were collected? Always seem to be overseas when something good going on at tesco anyway.

    • cheekychappie says:

      Was it Fifa?
