Does anybody know if you need to use your ihg cc certificate by the expiry date or book a room by the expiry date?

    • Liz says:

I asked this question yesterday but no-one replied. I have also sent an email to IHG to get confirmation but not heard back yet !

    • Rob says:

Not sure – I should find out as I have one expiring in Jan ….

O/T – my amex ba pp card reaches its 1st anniversary soon and I want to downgrade to the basic card but amex says I have to apply for it. I do not wish to be credit checked at the mo as I’m applying for a remortgage. I also have a 2 for 1 voucher which I want to protect, although availability is non existent. Any advice?

    • Rob says:

Amex may not run a check even though you need to fill in the form – ring and ask.

    • the_real_a says:

I have 4 AMEX issued cards and each one recieved a credit search (which has a negative effect on my credit score). This is something the credit card churners should be really be aware of!

      • JQ says:

There are no meaningful credit scores in the UK. Each financial institution has its own credit scoring system. Note that Experian et al. are not financial institutions.

Amex credit searched me once for my first Amex, and hasn’t searched me again despite applying for a new card each year.

Thanks for the reminder about the Virgin ‘Miles Booster’. I booked Hong Kong – London (upper class) the other week for 60,000 miles and (for Virgin) a very reasonable £30 so have taken advantage of it.

I could have gone first class in Cathay Pacific for 120,000 avios and about the same cost, the first class did look amazing and I’m sure most people would have gone for it, I just don’t have millions of Avios so decided for a flight leaving Hong Kong about around midnight it wasn’t just worth it.

  • YL says:

Just want to add that I belive the Iberia Plus Avios 30% bonus offer has now been extended.
It now says ‘Purchase Avios before 04 October 2015’
