Le Club Accorhotels, the loyalty scheme for Novotel, Sofitel, Mercure, Ibis, M Gallery, Pullman etc, has launched a new promotion in association with British Airways Executive Club.

Accor is offering QUADRUPLE Avios points on stays until the end of December, for bookings made between 1st October and 31st November.

To qualify for the ‘quadruple Avios’ offer, you must select British Airways Executive Club as your earnings partner in your Le Club Accorhotels account. You do NOT have to register for the promotion. There is also no minimum stay.

Beware of doing this if you have a large existing Accor points balance as – if you have over 4,000 points – it will convert your existing balance as well as those from future stays.

The British Airways Executive Club website page with details of this deal is here.

The standard Avios earning rate with Accor is 1.25 Avios per €1 (0.625 Avios per €1 at Ibis and Ibis Styles) so this becomes 5 Avios per €1 (2.5 per €1 at Ibis)See here for details.

This is not a bad return, although remember that many hotel groups give a flat 500 Avios points per stay as their standard rewardClub Carlson, IHG Rewards Club and Hyatt Gold Passport give you – for most brands- 500 Avios per stay every day of the year, even for one-night stays, if you choose to take miles instead of points.  For a typical €150 Accor stay you would earn 750 Avios under this deal.  That is good but not outstanding and simply highlights how poor the standard offer is.

It IS a better deal than taking Le Club Accorhotels points, assuming you would convert them to Avios in the end.  You earn – as a base level member – 2.5 Accor points per €1.  These convert at 1:1 into Iberia Plus (2:1, oddly, into BA) but you need to convert at least 3,000 points at a time.

It is far better to earn 5 Avios per €1 with an immediate conversion into BAEC rather than earning 2.5 Accor points per €1 and converting them to Iberia Plus when you have 3,000 of them.

The small print is available in a pop-up box if you click on the Accor offer link on ba.com here.

PS.  If you are looking for a UK hotel room for this weekend, remember that Accor runs its ‘Happy Mondays’ promotion every Monday and Tuesday.  Empty rooms for next weekend will be sold at prices from £25 (provincial Ibis) to £60 (Novotel).  Full details are in this article.

Our last 2 £25 stays in IBIS South Bridge Edinburgh, which is half way up Royal Mile btw so perfect for a weekend break, we got full buffet breakfast included in that rate. 100 Avios on top really is “icing on the cake”

  • David says:

Possibly worth mentioning how the current Iberia triple Avios promotion fits into this!

Depending upon future stay scenario and also history with Accor it could make more sense.

  • Paul Irving says:

Does that mean I can convert what I have already to Avios at the quadruple rate?

  • jeff says:

what happens if you earn a small amount on a cheap stay – don’t Accor have a transfer to airline partner threshold? (e.g. min 4000 points or something)

    • Rob says:

Once you change your preference to miles, they send over the full amount per stay.

  • Tommy says:

May I ask how do I set my preferred earingin partner to BA please? I happen to be staying at Mercure for my business trips at the moment.

    Thank you!

  • Simmo says:
