  Kabbee’s punctuality promise does have some serious restrictions though. It is only valid for prepaid account bookings. The refund is then into your account and you only have a limited time to use the money.

    I’ve stopped using Kabee having had some poor experiences of the quality of the drivers. I wouldn’t recommend them. Couple of experiences:

    1. Minicab smelling strongly of marijuana
    2. Driver relying on his phone satnav for directions to city airport, which he had placed in his lap and therefore looked down dangerously ever 5 seconds.
    3. Car seatbelt faulty

    I appreciate they don’t run the Minicab firms, but it’s their reputation and brand after all. Kabee essentially didn’t care and seemed only capable of dealing with time based complaints.

    Rather than use the cheapest mini cab firm via the app I’ve found its better and cheaper sticking to one you’ve used before and that has coherent alert drivers! Booking direct will be ~£3 or 4 cheaper than the Kabee price anyway.

    I’d just get an Uber if you don’t want to try Kabbee. Nice little Mercedes E or S class would keep your partner happy! Uberheadforpoints gives £10 as a sign up bonus, not sure if there are any higher ones knocking around.

  I have had generally good experiences with Kabbee. As one can choose the provider for the services, if one has a bad experience one can just choose a different company for the next trip, or for example book an executive class service or ‘green’ provider.

  While prices are fixed at the time of booking, they may vary depending on which company is providing the service, how far in advance one books and other factors. I have comparison checked prices with minicab companies directly, and found that on average Kabbee tends to be the same price as booking directly through the minicab company, particularly once one takes into account credit card surcharges.

  On the points front, if one reaches “Silver Bee” status, one gets a £5 account credit. With2x credit for airport trips, this is not particularly difficult to achieve.

  O/T: (BAPP)

  My first BAPP bill has just arrived (at ~£2k+)

  At the bottom of the statement, it mentions that if I spend £10k in a year, I will get the 2-for-1 companion voucher, and so far my qualifying spend is £862

  I know the £150 fee isn’t included, but there’s still about £1k of spend being omitted there. Does anyone know why my spend doesn’t appear to be counting (or is it just that part of the statement is ‘out of date’? – though I haven’t spent £1k in the past week!)

  Happy to phone them, but thought I’d ask around first 🙂

    Does the qualifying spend relate to the avios you earn each month? the “avios earning” month is different to your credit card statement month. E.g. my credit card statement month is to 24th, but I think the avios month is the calendar month. Therefore I might get a statement for £2k, but it doesn’t mean that I get 2,000 avios transferred that month – some of it will be transferred in the next month.

    So, if the points towards the 241 is calculated in the same way that might explain it?

      Cheers – seems a bizarre way of working but that makes sense. A quick check shows I got 1298 avios transfer across last month so @ 1.5 avios per £, that seems to tally 🙂

      I wonder if that means should you sign up for the credit card towards the end of a month, you only get 11 months to hit the target?

        Log into your AMEX account online. This will give you a accurate figure of your spend towards your £10k spend.

  Hilton will have their work cut out to turn the Cambridge City into a good hotel. Used it for a client lunch recently. Poor service and awful food. Clients didn’t like the rooms much! My preference is always the Holiday Inn in Histon just over the A14 on the north side of Cambridge. Easily accessible great hotel with friendly staff, good food and free parking. Reasonable rooms. Great pool.

  Tested & works

  If you’re a new and existing Tesco Wine* customer, you can get an extra 500 Clubcard points (worth up to £20 when converted to days out etc) by entering the MSE Blagged code XXPPGG when you spend £60 online.

  The code’s valid until Sun 11 Oct, however it can only be used by 3,500 people so it could end before then – go quick if you want it.
