Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Did you win 100,000 Avios in our Kaligo.com competition?

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Thank you to everyone who entered our competition last week, sponsored by hotel booking site Kaligo.com, to win 100,000 Avios points.  There was a fantastic response.

I picked a winner yesterday and the name has been verified with Kaligo.com.  I haven’t told this person yet, though – they will receive an email from me later today!

The winner is …..

(drum roll)

Kaligo

Ronald B, who used a Gmail email address

Well done Ronald.  We will be in touch today for your British Airways Executive Club account details.

Commiserations to everyone else.  There are a couple of smaller fun competitions lined up before Christmas and I am currently trying to put together another ‘biggie’ for January.

Remember that you still have 5 days to book a hotel with Kaligo.com and qualify for 5,000 Avios points when you spend £300 in one transaction or 10,000 Avios if you spend £500.   You book for any date in the next year but the booking itself needs to be made by November 30th.  You can register for the promotion here and the Avios will show during the booking process.

quick spend it before another devaluation occurs 🙂

Did you read about the Chinese bloke who bought a painting for £100m or so on his Amex for the points? First class flights for life for him and his family. Think the same chap who bought the big diamonds recently.

    • DW201 says:

didnt understand this story. If you are spending that much money on diamonds for a 9 year old then why would you not own a private jet?

Also – surely the transaction fees for using Amex would negate any benefit. What I took from this story was a Noob thinking he is being clever….

      • raikje says:

I read something that suggested it was because of Chinese capital controls – it’s easier to pay $100m to your Chinese bank and put the diamond on your charge card than move $100m out of the country to pay for it other ways. So the miles are just a happy side benefit. Don’t know if that’s true though – seems a rather easy way around the restrictions…
