Hilton HHonors will match your existing hotel status with another chain!

A few days I wrote about the exceptionally generous status match programme launched by Hyatt Gold Passport.  Hyatt is willing to match your top tier status in certain other hotels schemes to its own Diamond level – and that comes with guaranteed suite upgrades at the time of booking among other benefits.  You can read more about that here.

Hilton HHonors has now launched its own status match.

This was slipped out quietly by the official Hilton representative on the Flyertalk site.  It is very unlikely that it will be openly publicised.

Hilton Diamond 350

This is what Hilton HHonors offers Diamond members.  You would normally need 30 stays or 60 nights in a calendar year to get this.

To be honest, the benefits are not as good as Hyatt Diamond and are not substantially different to the mid-tier Gold level.  The main additional benefit is guaranteed lounge access when staying at a Conrad, Hilton or Doubletree hotel even if you are not upgraded to the club floor.

How do I match?

If you want to request a match, this is what you must do:

Be an existing Hilton HHonors members

Take a screenshot showing your elite tier status in any other hotel programme

Email it to hhonormystatus@hilton.com along with your Hilton HHonors account details

The closing date for matches is 11th January although I imagine Hilton may pull it sooner if demand is high.  Your status will run until the end of March 2017.

It is not clear who will receive Diamond and who will receive Gold – there is a lot of discretion at play here.  You have nothing to lose by asking though.

  1. Ditto. IHG Spire (from numerous stays this year) to Hilton platinum from blue (have not been using Hilton recent years). Thanks HfP – hope I can make good use.

  2. Thank you HFP.. I’m a recent new reader and never posted… I sent a photo of my soon to expire Marriott Gold and IHG Platinum card.. 24Hrs later got this:

Thank you for your inquiry regarding status match request. We appreciate you taking the time to contact us.

Congratulations! Your HHonors account has been upgraded to Diamond tier status.

I’ve never ever stayed in a Hilton :)

I got Marriott gold a few years back and got IHG Plat on a status match, since then I’ve done minimal nights at Marriott in UK (maybe 2) as to expensive and switched to IHG. Do I stick with IHG or move to Hilton now? for me its price as major focus but always look for free drinks “I mean lounge” :) and room upgrades, London is my regular…

    Appreciate any thoughts…

    Ta

    James

Thanks for this. I was HH Gold for several years but in recent times have dropped down the rankings. Previously asked if they would upgrade the card but was rejected. After reading this article I submitted my Accor platinum and SPG gold details. Three days later had an email from Hilton confirming HH account now matched at Diamond level. Thanks again

I applied yesterday with my Accor Platinum (from Amex Plat), and was matched today to HH Diamond! I’ve only started using my Accor status recently, and am fairly happy with it (I just had an excellent stay at the Pullman in Sanya, and was looked after very well). The Hilton Diamond benefits don’t seem amazing, and my feelings towards Hilton in general isn’t very positive, but this hopefully will be handy sometime in the future.

  5. Refused by Hilton when I submitted my LeClubAccor Platinum. Managed to get status matched to Diamond with Best Western Diamond though.
