News in brief:

Get £10 – £100 off with a Qatar Airways promotional code

Qatar Airways has launched a new discount code which is exclusive to small travel sites like HfP.

You save £10 on discounted economy tickets, £30 on full fare economy tickets and £100 on business class fares.

It is valid to 33 destinations (listed here) from any UK departure point.  You must book before 16th December for travel up to 14th November 2016.

Full details can be found here.

My review of the Qatar Airways A380 First Class service from Doha will hopefully appear on HFP in the next 10 days or so.

There are some photos of the astonishing First Class lounge in Doha on our Instagram feed where I described it as “one of the defining structures of our time, a statement of intent.  Not just the most impressive lounge but one of the most impressive buildings you will ever enter of any sort“.  I’d had a few glasses of Krug when I wrote that, but I meant it.

Starwood / Design Hotels competition – we have a HfP winner

I have written before about the new Starwood partnership with Design Hotels.  To promote it, Starwood has launched a ‘daily play’ competition.

It has been running for a few days already and one HfP reader has already won 10,000 SPG points, which I value at £150.

The link to play is here.  There are daily ‘instant win’ prizes and every entry gets you a spot in a grand draw for 50,000 SPG points and five free night vouchers.  You can play each day until 18th December.

Holding on for another big Qatar sale – The last one only went through June 2016. Although the addition of Birmingham for those of us in the west Midlands is attractive

Applied for the Hilton status match after reading yesterday’s post. Accor plat through Amex, no stays and Spg gold through Amex, 1 stay. Was very surprised this morning to receive confirmation of status match to Diamond.

That is quick!… No response to my request yet :/

Me too, I did mine yesterday about 7.30am. Matched to spire elite. Fingers crossed.

Just got my Hilton match from ClubCarlson Concierge

Landed this afternoon. Matched to Accor platinum. Have had an Accor card for years, upgraded with Amex plat and had a recent stay that shouldn’t have credited but did, so the points on the screenshot made the account look well used 🙂

You can get 10% off Emirates flights through Nationwide Simply Rewards too.

O/T Just had a call from Tesco related to my query about the Clubcard to BAEC bonus and they said the bonus will go through for everyone at the same time on 28th Dec…the same date Rob says to complain if you have not got them.
The person who rung sounded like they were quoting an official line from the tone of voice so I assume they must have had a LOT of customer service queries!

  • Nick M says:

OT – slight change to our plans over Christmas and looking to hire a car at the end of the month… is anyone aware of any particularly good deals with (ideally) Enterprise or Sixt? I have Hertz Gold through my AMEX but their nearest office is 40 miles away…

Also, does anyone have any experience as to how flexible the individual offices can be? – they’re shut on the day that we’d ideally like to collect the car so will be needing to collect earlier than we’d like!

    • JQ says:

If the office is closed, you won’t get a car unless the staff know you personally.

  • Sav says:

Can the QR code be used in conjunction with the “ThankYou2015” 10% off code they emailed to people today?
